Detectives investigating a diver washed up dead at the Port of Newcastle earlier this week, alongside $20 million worth of cocaine, have arrested a man in North Queensland.
It's alleged, the 62-year-old was attempting to flee the country.
He was arrested by Queensland and Federal Police as he attempted to board a plane to Singapore at 5:30pm yesterday evening.
The man faces charges of Import Large Commercial Quantity of Border Controlled Drug (C’th) and Large Commercial Drug Supply (NSW DM&T).
He'll appear at Cairns Magistrates Court later today.
Detectives will travel to Queensland today to seek his extradition to New South Wales.
Inquiries continue.
