A 29-year-old woman is due to face court today accused assaulting several people at Merewether Beach on Wednesday night.
Police say at about 6.30pm, up to 10 people were accosted by the woman, who allegedly pulled a girl's hair and attempted to steal a bike from another person during her rampage.
She was arrested a short time later at Bar Beach and has been refused bail to face Newcastle Local Court charged with affray.
Police are urging any alleged victims or witnesses who have yet to speak to them to contact Newcastle Police Station.
