A report is being prepared for the coroner, after a man reportedly fell from a a fourth floor balcony, at a hotel on Scott Street, Newcastle.
At around 8.40pm on Monday night, emergency services were called to the scene.
The man is yet to be formally identified, however, is believed to be aged 37.
Officers from Newcastle City Police District established a crime scene,
which was forensically examined by specialist police.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident has commenced.
The incident temporarily suspended Newcastle light rail services between the Newcastle Interchange and Newcastle Beach as police carried out operations.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and police believe it may have been a misadventure.
