Woman Charged Over Double Gateshead Shooting

A second person has been arrested and charged over a double shooting in Gateshead. 

At about 2:00am on Thursday the 21st of September, 2023, emergency services arrived at a home on Cassia Crescent in Gateshead, to find a 42-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. 

Following inquiries, a 31-year-old man was charged in relation to the attack four days later. 

He remains before the courts. 

As investigations continue, a 25-year-old woman was arrested at a property on Bousfield Street in Wallsend at about 2:30pm on Wednesday the 1st of November, 2023. 

She's been charged with a number of offences, including shoot at with intent to murder. 

The woman was refused bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court today (Thursday the 2nd of November, 2023).

Critical Incident Investigation Launched After Woman's Body Was Discovered In Muswellbrook

A critical incident has been launched, after the body of a woman was found at a home in Muswellbrook. 

At about 7:20am yesterday (Monday the 30th of October, 2023), officers were called to a property on Sydney Street for a concern for welfare check.

Officers spoke with a 52-year-old woman, before leaving the scene a short time later.

Later, at about 7:00pm, officers were called to a licensed premises on the same street, following reports a woman was behaving in an erratic manner.

Police attended and spoke with a 52-year-old woman outside the club, before she was arrested and taken to the Calvary Mater Hospital under police guard for an assessment. 

At about 8:30pm, emergency services were called to the earlier Sydney Street property for another welfare check. 

Upon arrival, police found the body of a woman, believed to be in her 60's. 

It's not yet known how the woman died. 

A critical incident team from the Port Stephens-Hunter Police District will now investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Acting Assistant Commissioner Scott Tanner, says police are working to establish what the relationship between the two women is, and how officers responded to the two incidents. 

"With these matters, police have a view of all the circumstances surrounding the matter, and we wish to have an independent body look at the investigation, and the response of police at the time," he said.

Image Released As Investigations Into Gateshead Shooting Continue

Lake Macquarie Police are appealing for information following an alleged shooting at Gateshead last month. 

At about 2:00am on Thursday the 21st of September, officers arrived at a home on Cassia Crescent at Gateshead to find a 42-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman suffering gunshot wounds. 

Following enquiries, a 31-year-old man was charged in relation to the shooting and remains before the courts.  

As investigations continue, police have released an image of a person they believe may be able to assist with enquiries. 

They are described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 170cm tall, with a large build, and at the time of the incident they were wearing a light-coloured hooded jumper, light-coloured pants and were carrying a black bag.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area between 1:00am and 3:00am on Thursday the 21st of September, 2023, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Two Wounded In Gateshead Shooting

Two people are in hospital with gunshot wounds following an alleged shooting in Lake Macquarie.

Just after 2:00am on Thursday the 21st of September, 2023, emergency services were called to Cassia Crescent at Gateshead, following reports of a shooting.

Police arrived to find a 42-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his arm and a 32-year-old woman who'd been shot in the leg.

They were both treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to the John Hunter Hospital in stable conditions.

Police have established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the incident, which marks the second shooting in the suburb in recent months.

Back in May, a 41-year-old man was struck in the leg after shots were fired into his home on Flame Street. 

As inquiries continue, police are urging anyone with CCTV or information about the incident to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Newcastle Man Charged Over Dubbo Murder

A man from Newcastle has been charged with murder following an investigation into the death of a man in the state’s Central West.

Just after midnight on Wednesday the 16th of August, 2023, emergency services were called to a home on Margaret Crescent in Dubbo, following reports of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, officers found a 39-year-old man suffering multiple stab wounds to his chest.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, however he died at the scene.

A crime scene was established, and an investigation was launched into the incident. 
 
Following inquiries, at about 10:30am yesterday (Tuesday the 19th of September, 2023), detectives attended a correctional facility in Grafton and arrested a 39-year-old man from Newcastle.

He's since been charged with murder and refused bail.  

He'll face Dubbo Local Court today.

Police Investigate Two-Vehicle Crash Following A Pursuit In Jesmond

Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash following a pursuit in Jesmond overnight.

At about 3:30am on Monday the 21st of August, 2023, officers attached to the Newcastle City Police District attempted to stop a vehicle on Newcastle Road at Jesmond.

The vehicle, believed to have been stolen, sped off and a pursuit was initiated, however it was terminated a short time later for safety reasons.

The vehicle, a Grey Jeep Compass, crossed onto the incorrect side of the road and continued travelling east in the westbound lane, before colliding with another vehicle heading west.

The driver of the Jeep ran out of the vehicle and was unable to be located.

The driver of the other car was not injured.

Investigations into the incident are still underway.

Police Release Images Of Alleged Armed Robbery At Weston As Investigations Continue

Police have released CCTV footage as they continue to investigate an alleged armed robbery at Weston.

Just after midnight on Friday the 30th of September 2022, officers were called to a licensed premises on Cessnock Road in Weston, following reports of an armed robbery.

Police were told two unknown males, both armed with machetes, entered the business and confronted patrons.

One 48-year-old man was struck with a machete, causing a laceration to his arm.

The males allegedly threatened staff and stole cash, before fleeing the scene on foot along Station Street.

As investigations continue under Strike Force Rubus, detectives have released CCTV footage of the incident and an image of a vehicle of interest.

The males are depicted wearing dark coloured clothing with their faces covered.

The vehicle of interest is described as being a small, dark coloured hatchback.

Police Investigate A String Of Hunter Copper Thefts

Police are appealing for information in relation to several alleged copper-theft incidents in the Hunter during June and July. 

A number of incidents have been reported over the last two months, including on Monday the 31st of July 2023, when police say copper cables were stolen from a site on Thomas Mitchell Drive at Muswellbrook.

The following other incidents are also being investigated by police:
  • On Friday the 9th of June 2023, copper earth tails were stolen from more than 50 power poles along the Golden Highway near Merriwa.
  • Between Wednesday the 5th of July and Thursday the 20th of July 2023, copper cables were stolen from a site near Wybong Road at Muswellbrook.
  • On Friday the 7th of July 2023, copper cables were stolen from a site near George Booth Drive at Cameron Park.
  • On Saturday the 8th of July 2023, electrical wires were stolen near Regents Drive, New Lambton.
  • On Wednesday the 19th of July 2023, an attempted theft occurred on electrical wires at Tomalpin, near Cessnock.
It's also believed similar thefts have occurred at Morisset and Awaba. 

Officers are currently investigating the thefts and are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. 

The incidents have also prompted Ausgrid’s Executive General Manager of Field Operations, Sam Sofi to issue a safety warning. 

He says people are putting their lives at risk by interfering with live electrical assets.

Break-And-Enters At Thornton And Edgeworth Could Be Linked, Police Say

Police have released CCTV footage of a man as investigations continue into two alleged break and enters in the Hunter Region. 

Officers allege a man broke into a supermarket on the corner of Taylor Avenue and Thomas Coke at Thornton at about 2:30am on Monday the 5th of June and stole a cash box. 

A second cash box was allegedly stolen from a supermarket at the intersection of Main Road and Callan Street at Edgeworth on Wednesday the 14th of June. 
 
Police believe the two incidents may be linked and have released footage of a man they believe will be able to assist with enquiries. 

He's being described as Caucasian in appearance and of a medium build. 

He is shown wearing a white face mask, a black and white hooded jumper with writing down both sides, gloves, grey shorts and white sneakers.





Hunter Valley Police Appeal For Information About Two Suspicious Truck Fires at Branxton

Hunter Valley Police believe two alleged arson incidents in the region may be linked. 

Three trucks parked on Elderslie Road at Branxton, were allegedly set alight on the evening of Saturday the 22nd October last year. 

Two of the trucks were destroyed and one was significantly damaged.

Additionally, on Thursday the 16th of February this year, a fourth truck was set alight and destroyed at the same location. 

Officers have commenced an investigation into the fires and they are being treated as suspicious. 

They're calling for anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.

Police On The Lookout For A Man In Relation To Alleged Armed Robbery At Mayfield

Police have released vision of a man they believe could help them with an investigation into a robbery at Mayfield last month. 

At about 4:45pm on Thursday the 18th of May, a man allegedly entered a business on Maitland Road at Mayfield, where he threatened a female employee with a firearm and a machete, before fleeing with cash and jewellry. 

The female employee was not physically injured. 

As inquiries continue, Newcastle police officers have released images of a man who may be able to assist with the investigation.

The man is described as being 180cm tall, and of a solid build.

He is shown wearing blue overalls, a fluoro yellow vest, a black full face road bike helmet, and black and yellow gloves.

CCTV Footage Released as Investigation into Fatal Heddon Greta Shooting Continues

Homicide Squad detectives have released CCTV footage as part of an ongoing investigation into the fatal shooting of a man in Heddon Greta last year. 

25-year-old Zachery Davies-Scott was shot dead at his home on Traders Way at Heddon Greta at about 10:50pm on Tuesday the 27th of December. 

Police have been told a number of people allegedly forced entry into the home before Zachary was shot.

The group then left the scene in a white SUV which was seized by police in February. 

As the investigation continues, police have released CCTV footage showing a male at a service station in Lambton.

They believe he may be able to assist with enquiries. 

He is being described as Caucasian in appearance, of a solid build, with dark hair.
 
He was wearing a black t-shirt with a white Nike logo, black shorts, a baseball cap, a cross-body bag and, white shoes.

Newcastle Man Found Dead in Thai Gaol Cell

Thai police are currently investigating the death of a Newcastle man inside a gaol cell. 

It's alleged former Hunter Sports High School student Matthew Winder was arrested on Sunday night for being drunk and disorderly outside a bar at Patong Beach. 

The 31-year-old was found dead at about midday on Monday. 

Police say he was the only occupant in his cell. 

Matthew's partner Ayla Varoxis, says she spoke to him five hours prior to the incident, and while he was intoxicated, he did not seem suicidal.

Lake Macquarie Real Estate Agent Dies While on Holiday in Bali

A Lake Macquarie real estate consultant has died while on holiday in Bali. 

Police say 28-year-old Chares James Bradley was found unresponsive on the road in North Kuta after leaving a popular club on Sunday night. 

His family confirmed his death today, however it's not yet known how he died. 

Charles had recently joined Belle property in Lake Macquarie as a lead agent. 

His family are now working with authorities to bring his body back to Australia.

Police on the hunt for three men following reports of sexual touching incident in Scone

Police are searching for three men who allegedly sexually assaulted an eighteen-year-old woman in Scone last Thursday. 

The police say the woman was walking past a park on the corner of Grundy Road and Kelly Street, when she was assaulted by the three men on Thursday 6 April at about 7:45pm.  

All three men have been described as being of Caucasian appearance, and of average build, with one having a beard. 

At the time of the incident, all three were wearing jeans, with one wearing a grey cowboy hat. 

They were last seen leaving the area in a light-coloured SUV parked on Grundy Road.  

Police are urging anyone with information which may help investigations to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police appeal for CCTV footage after man left paralysed in Redhead bike crash

Police are appealing to the public for information after a bike crash on the Fernleigh Track at Redhead left an elderly man unable to walk again.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 11:20am on Wednesday, finding 85-year-old Greg Hood seriously injured.

He had been thrown from his bicycle during an alleged collision with two riders travelling in the opposite direction, on either e-scooters or motorbikes.

The two men were wearing long, dark clothing and it's alleged they fled the scene.

Mr Hood was taken to the John Hunter in a serious condition with spinal injuries and paralysis.

Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, and the circumstances leading up to the impact to come forward. 

Officers are especially interested in talking to anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the vicinity of Geraldton Drive at Redhead.

Woman critical after being stabbed in the neck in Hamilton South fight

Police are investigating after a woman was stabbed in the neck during an altercation at Hamilton South on Sunday night.

It's understood police were told two men and two women became involved in a fight around 11pm, resulting in a 35-year-old woman being stabbed in the neck and a 46-year-old man receiving a laceration to his hand.

All four are known to each other.

The pair drove themselves to the Mater Hospital, where the woman was transported to the John Hunter in a critical condition.

A 36-year-old woman sustained serious head injurie, while a 38-year-old man had a broken arm, and both were also taken to the John Hunter in a stable condition.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

Raptor Squad launches public appeal in Edgeworth assault investigation

Raptor Squad detectives are appealing to the public in the investigation into a serious assault at Edgeworth last year. 

Around 8am on Tuesday 10 Auust 2021, two men were inside a purple Holden Commodore at a gravel carpark on the intersection of Impala Street and Main Road. 

Another two men entered the carpark in a black Audi hatchback, one of them using a knife to slash the Commodore's tyres and stabbing the passenger. 

The driver was also assaulted. 

The attackers fled the scene in the Audi, heading east on Edgeworth's Main Road.

Both injured men, aged 33, have since recovered after treatment at the John Hunter Hospital.

Detectives have released a CCTV image of a black Audi hatchback, observed in the area a short time after the incident. 

Detectives have also issued an image of a pair of distinct red and black sunglasses left at the scene. 

The driver of the Audi is described as being of Caucasian appearance, between 180cm to 185cm tall, with dark coloured hair in a mohawk style. 

The Audi passenger is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 155cm tall, with tattoos on his face, neck and arms, and red hair with a mohawk and mullet style haircut.

Police appeal after shots fired into Tenambit yard

Police are appealing to the public for information after a shooting in Tenambit on Sunday morning.

Around 6:45am, police were called to a home on Goldingham Street, after reports of a public place shooting. 

Officers established that a number of shots had been fired into the front yard of a home and an MG station wagon parked in a driveway. 

Police have been told no one was in the vehicle at the time, but the station wagon was driven from the scene by unknown persons and located at Morpeth later in the day. 

The car has been seized for forensic examination. 

Two men aged 26 and 28, and a 24-year-old woman were inside the home at the time, but no one was hurt.

A pair of crime scenes were established and are being forensically examined by specialist police.

Vintage car and jet ski seized in Newcastle drug supply investigation

Police have seized a vintage car, cash, and weapons, and have charged a man with large scale drug supply after a three-month investigation in Newcastle. 

Officers attended a home on Woodstock Street in Mayfield, and arrested a 21-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman on Monday morning. 

Officers executed a search warrant at the property, where they seized more than $27,000 in cash, four motorcycles, a pair of knuckle dusters, cannabis, a hydraulic press, and a number of precursors believed to be used in the production of prohibited substances. 

Two more search warrants were executed at storage facilities in Kotara and Raymond Terrace, where police seized a 1969 Ford Mustang and a jet ski, both believed to be the proceeds of crime. 

The man was taken to Newcastle Police Station and charged, and refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court on Tuesday. 

The woman was released pending further inquiries.

Investigations continue.
