Pedestrian Killed In Crash At Beresfield

Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash at Beresfield overnight.

Emergency services were called to the M1 Pacific Motorway just south of the Beresfield Industrial Park just after 7.00pm on Tuesday to reports a pedestrian had been hit by a truck.

Police and paramedics treated a 22-year-old man, however he died at the scene.

The truck driver, a 60-year-old man, was taken to Maitland Hospital for mandatory testing.

Police have set up a crime scene and a report is being prepared for the Coroner. 

 

CCTV Footage Released as Investigation into Fatal Heddon Greta Shooting Continues

Homicide Squad detectives have released CCTV footage as part of an ongoing investigation into the fatal shooting of a man in Heddon Greta last year. 

25-year-old Zachery Davies-Scott was shot dead at his home on Traders Way at Heddon Greta at about 10:50pm on Tuesday the 27th of December. 

Police have been told a number of people allegedly forced entry into the home before Zachary was shot.

The group then left the scene in a white SUV which was seized by police in February. 

As the investigation continues, police have released CCTV footage showing a male at a service station in Lambton.

They believe he may be able to assist with enquiries. 

He is being described as Caucasian in appearance, of a solid build, with dark hair.

 
He was wearing a black t-shirt with a white Nike logo, black shorts, a baseball cap, a cross-body bag and, white shoes.

UPDATE Motorcyclist Killed In Crash At Bellbird

 A motorcyclist has died in an early morning crash at Bellbird.

Emergency services and the Hunter's Westpac Rescue Helicopter were called to the intersection of Wollombi Road and Kendall Street just after 4.00am on Wednesday to reports the male rider had crashed into a barrier.

Police found the man, believed to be in his early 30's, some distance away from the bike and commenced CPR, however he died at the scene before paramedics arrived.

Inspector Michael Gorman says a crime scene has been set up as investigations continue.

"Because of the time of morning and without any eyewitnesses, we are looking at speed, fatigue and the possibility of drugs and/or alcohol. We've also taken the motorcycle away for mechanical examination to see if there was mechanical failure on the bike, but unfortunately at this stage we are not able to rule anything in or out," he said.

The man is yet to be formally identified. 

A report will be prepared for the Coroner. 

BREAKING! Lake Macquarie Police Investigate Fatal Crash at Mandalong

A report is being prepared for the Coroner after a fatal crash at Mandalong on Monday night.

Emergency services were called to Mandalong Road just after 6.15pm where a southbound motorcycle had left the road and crashed into trees.

The male rider was treated by passers-by and paramedics but sadly died at the scene.

The victim is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be a 36-year-old man.

Cyclist Killed in Truck Collision

A woman has died following a collision between a truck and a bicycle in Newcastle East.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Hunter and Perkins Streets around 9:30.

NSW Ambulance Paramedics treated the female cyclist but she died at the scene.

The truck driver was uninjured and has been taken to the Mater Hospital for mandatory testing.

Newcastle City Police Officers attended the scene and will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The victim is yet to be formally identified.

Young Man Dies in Seaham Crash

A teenager has tragically died after a single-vehicle collision at East Seaham early this morning.

Emergency services were called out to East Seaham Road just after 4:30am, where it appears the 19-year-old's Subaru Liberty had veered off the road and crashed into a power pole sometime earlier.

The young man was en route to the John Hunter Hospital when he succumbed to critical injuries.

Port Stephens Police are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward as crash investigations are launched.

Horrific crash at Salamander Bay a "tragedy": Police

Police have addressed the media in relation to this morning's double fatality at Salamander Bay.

It's been confirmed one man died at the point of impact and another man died a short time later when a Mazda 3 hatchback veered off the road and crashed into a tree at the intersection of George Road and Soldiers Point Road, Salamander Bay, just after 1am.

Police say the two men who survived, both aged 30, remain in the John Hunter with serious injuries including lacerations and fractures. 

Newcastle Superintendent Craig Jackson said crash investigations are continuing, although "there's every indication at this point that speed and alcohol are factors in this particular crash."

The Superintendent refused to be drawn on whether the four men in the car were wearing seatbelts, saying "investigations are ongoing."

He said three of the men involved hail from Queensland, while one is believed to be an Estonian national, although this has not yet been confirmed.

Police used the opportunity to warn against reckless driving behaviour.

"More than 40% of crashes involve speed as a factor," Superintendent Jackson said, "if you've been drinking, don't drive..."

He said the incident was a true tragedy which will go on to impact family and friends of the deceased persons.

"We're going to have mums, dads, sisters, brothers and kids all told their loved one is not coming home," he stated.

Results from the driver's mandatory blood and alcohol tests will not return from the lab for some time yet, while Police intend to work with doctors on a time-frame to question him.

Man Dies In Single-Vehicle Crash At Rathmines

Police believe a man who died in a single car crash at Rathmines may have suffered a medical episode moments beforehand.

The 65-year-old died at the scene after his car slammed into a power pole on Dorrington Road just after 4.30pm on Monday.

Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District with assistance from Crash Investigation Unit, established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
