Two Men Charged Over Alleged Theft Of Equipment Worth More Than $100,000 From Upper Hunter Property

Two men are due to front court accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment from an Upper Hunter property.

It's alleged the pair broke into the property on Pembroke Road at Cassilis and made off with two Honda quad bikes, power tools, cattle tags and other farming and electronic equipment valued at more than $100,000.

Following inquires, police located and seized a quad bike and box trailer from a home in Aly Street, Kayuga.

Search warrants were also executed at homes in Muswellbrook and Aberdeen where it's alleged various items including power tools, copper cabling and farming equipment were found, all believed to be stolen.

Two men aged 27 and 46 were subsequently arrested at Muswellbrook Police Station and charged with theft and disposing of a motor vehicle - serious indictable offence greater than $5000, and knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime.

The older man was also charged with failing to adequately exercise a confined animal and not disclosing the identity of a driver or passenger.

They've each been granted conditional bail to face court in July. 

Investigations continue.

 

Police Investigate Break-In At Muswellbrook High School

Hunter Valley Police are appealing for witnesses after a break-in at Muswellbrook High School overnight.

Police say neighbours reported the sound of smashing glass at the King Street school at about 11.00pm on Tuesday 20 January 2026.

Officers were quickly on scene, with two males spotted fleeing the school grounds.

They'd managed to gain access to a uniform room.

Police say several windows were smashed during the break-in but it's not clear if anything was taken.

Break-And-Enters At Thornton And Edgeworth Could Be Linked, Police Say

Police have released CCTV footage of a man as investigations continue into two alleged break and enters in the Hunter Region. 

Officers allege a man broke into a supermarket on the corner of Taylor Avenue and Thomas Coke at Thornton at about 2:30am on Monday the 5th of June and stole a cash box. 

A second cash box was allegedly stolen from a supermarket at the intersection of Main Road and Callan Street at Edgeworth on Wednesday the 14th of June. 

 

Police believe the two incidents may be linked and have released footage of a man they believe will be able to assist with enquiries. 

He's being described as Caucasian in appearance and of a medium build. 

He is shown wearing a white face mask, a black and white hooded jumper with writing down both sides, gloves, grey shorts and white sneakers.

Police Believe Same Man Is Responsible For Break & Enters At Thornton, Rutherford and Edgeworth

Police are stepping up investigations into a spate of break and enters across the Hunter.

In the first incident, a man broke into a Thornton supermarket in the early hours of June 5 and stole a cash box.

A fast-food restaurant inside the Rutherford Mall was broken into at about 1.00am on June 13, with a man stealing cash.

Then, just before midnight last Wednesday, a man broke into a supermarket at the corner of Main Road and Callan Street Edgeworth and stole a cash box.

Police believe the same man is responsible.

Teenager Charged Over Alleged Break-In at Thornton

A teenage boy has been charged after a home in Thornton was allegedly broken into yesterday.

Police were called to a property at Edwards Avenue about 2:30am yesterday morning, after reports of a break and enter.

They were told residents had noticed a door left ajar and several items missing, including a set of car keys and personal devices. 

They were also told, a vehicle was found 15 metres down the driveway, wedged against a large hedge.

Following inquiries, police attended a property on Parkway Drive in Thornton, where they arrested a 17-year-old boy.

He was refused bail and will appear before a children's court on Friday

Boys Arrested Over Attempted Break-In At Cardiff

Police have arrested two teenage boys over an attempted break and enter at a Cardiff service station.

Police say the 16-year-olds smashed a window at the Enhance Petrol outlet on Main Road just before 12.30am on Monday, setting off the intruder alarm.

The pair fled and a witness pointed officers in the right direction when they arrived a short time later.

The boys were found hiding in bushes about 2 kilometres away and arrested.

They were taken to Toronto Police Station and will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.

BREAKING! Hamilton South Man Arrested Over Alleged Break and Enter of Jesmond Stores

A 29-year-old Hamilton South man is facing court after being arrested in Waratah on Tuesday morning, over a number of alleged break and enter offences from Jesmond stores in January.

When arrested by officers this morning he was in possession of stolen items from a vehicle. 

He was taken to Waratah Police Station and charged with two counts of aggravated break and enter, goods in custody, driving whilst disqualified and malicious damage. 

The man who is on parole was refused bail to face Newcastle Local Court on Tuesday the 3rd of March. 

Two Teens Charged over Alleged Robbery of Computer Room at Lake Macquarie School

Two teens have been charged after an alleged break and enter at a school in Lake Macquarie early Monday morning.

At around 1:30am, Police searched two young males, aged 13 and 14 walking along the Pacific Highway at Belmont.

They allegedly located 11 tablet computers, chargers, and a computer modem believed to be stolen from the near by school, as well as house breaking implements, face coverings and a knife.

Following inquiries, police were told that a security system was activated at 1am at a school nearby, with entry forced into a computer room.

The 14-year-old was charged with aggravated break, enter and steal in company, possess house breaking implements and custody of a knife in public place.

The 13-year-old was charged with aggravated break, enter and steal in company and possess house breaking implements.

Both were refused bail to appear at a children’s court today.

Hungry Thief Breaks Into Glendale School

A man is due to face court next month accused of breaking into a Glendale school and child care centre early Friday morning.

Police say the man entered the Holy Cross College on Lake Road though an unlocked door at about 4.00am and stole chips, party pies and ice blocks.

They say he then went next door to the Goodstart Early Learning Centre in Oakland Street and stole a torch.

He was rounded up by a police dog in nearby John Howe Close a short time later and is due to face Toronto Local Court on August 13 charged with 2 counts of break,enter and steal.

Man To Face Court Over Alleged Thefts From Newcastle Apartment Block

A Noraville man is due to face court today accused of breaking into a unit block in Newcastle and stealing property.

It's alleged the 34-year-old forced open a letter box at the Worth Place apartments in the early hours of Monday morning and stole keys and an access fob before gaining access to the basement and breaking into several storage cages and making off with two mountain bikes, jewellery and tools.

He was arrested yesterday while walking in Morgan Street Islington, with a search of his backpack allegedly uncovering keys, an access fob and housebreaking implements.

Police say they searched a nearby home and found two mountain bikes, one of which was stolen from Worth Place

The man, who is on parole, was taken to Waratah Police Station and charged with four offences including break enter and steal, possess housebreaking implements, goods in custody and possess graffiti implement.

He was refused bail to face Newcastle Local Court today (Wednesday 11 July, 2019).

Police are investigating a number of break and enters in the area and are reminding residents to be vigilant and not to leave spare keys in letterboxes.

Police have launched an investigation into a Thornton break-in that occurred last night at a home on Railway Avenue.

The 28 year-old victim, who is legally blind, told police he heard a noise at around 6 pm before he was forced into a wall. Fortunately he was left uninjured, and the offender did not take anything from the home before fleeing the scene.

The assailant was described as being around 175 cm tall with a medium build, and of Caucasian appearance. He was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket.

Police are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.

Good 'Old Fashioned Police Work' Nabs Would-Be Thief In Toronto Creek

Officers have relied on old fashioned police work to arrest a would-be thief at Toronto.

The occupants of a home on Anzac Parade returned just after 1.00pm on Monday to find a man ransacking their residence.

He ran off dropping allegedly stolen items as he went.

Police were called and set up a perimeter, with a police dog tracking the man to a nearby creek.

They commandeered a boat and found the 22-year-old lying in mangroves trying to camouflage himself.

He's been refused bail to face Toronto Local Court today (Tuesday 19 June 2019) charged with break and enter.
