Police are appealing for dashcam footage as investigations continue into a fatal crash at Ferrodale.
Emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway about 1km north of the the Medowie Road intersection at about 11.30am on Sunday to reports an SUV had left the road and hit a tree.
Police say the driver, a 70-year-old man, died at the scene.
His 70-year-old female passenger was taken to the John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition with suspected spinal injuries.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
