Police Investigate Fatal Crash At Thornton

Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a man died in a single vehicle crash at Thornton overnight.

Police and paramedics were called to Eurimbla Street at about 7.50pm on Monday August 4 to find a car had crashed into a parked car before crashing into a pole.

The driver - and sole occupant - a man in his 50's was treated before being taken to hospital in a critical condition; however he died a short time later.

The man is yet to be formally identified.

Police have set up a crime scene and are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.

Pedestrian Killed At Medowie

Police say poor visibility during wet weather appears to be a factor in a fatal pedestrian crash at Port Stephens.

Emergency services were called to Medowie Road at Medowie around 1.40am on Sunday to find a man had been it by a car.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, the man, believed to be in his 30's, died at the scene.

The driver of the car, a 21-year-old man, was uninjured and taken to hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

Police are asking anyone with information, dashcam or CCTV footage to contact Raymond Terrace Police.

UPDATE! Man Killed By Car Doing Burnout At Stockrington

Police have charged the driver of a car which allegedly hit and killed a man at Stockrington at the weekend.

Emergency services were called to Haul Road early Sunday morning following reports of a crash.

Police were told a modified Ford Fairmont was performing a burnout when it hit three people before being driven from the scene.

A 53-year-old man suffered critical head injuries and died at the scene.

Two women believed to have also been hit by the car left the scene before emergency services arrived.

The car was later found burn out on McFarlanes Road at Chisholm.

Following extensive inquires, police arrested a 22-year-old man at Maitland Police yesterday afternoon.

He's been charged with 7 offences and refused bail to face Parramatta Court today (Monday 30 June, 2025).

Charges Laid Over Fatal North Lambton Crash

A man will face court today (Wednesday 25 June 2025) charged after a fatal crash near Newcastle at the weekend.

The crash happened about 2.40am Sunday (22 June 2025), when a Commodore sedan and a Hyundai sedan collided on Newcastle Road at North Lambton

A 55-year-old woman, who was a passenger in a Hyundai, died at the scene.

The driver of that car – a 28-year-old woman – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital where she remains in a serious condition. Police were later informed that the woman was pregnant and had subsequently lost her unborn child.

The driver and front-seat passenger of the Commodore allegedly left the scene prior to police arrival.

The two passengers in the back seat of the Commodore – girls aged 15 and 17 – were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital where they remain in serious conditions.

Following extensive inquiries, police attached to Strike Force Carrarang – assisted by Operation UTAH officers – arrested a 19-year-old man at a home in Mayfield yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 24 June 2025).

He was taken to Waratah Police Station where he was charged with seven offences,

  • Aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death – escaping pursuit,
  • Aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – escaping pursuit,
  • Cause bodily harm by misconduct - in charge of motor vehicle (three counts)
  • Use vehicle displaying misleading number plate, and
  • Never licensed person drive vehicle on road.

The man, from Wallsend, has been refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court later today (Wednesday 25 June 2025).

The critical incident investigation is ongoing by Hunter Valley Police District and will be reviewed by the Professional Standards Command, oversighted by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC).

Woman And Unborn Baby Dead After Horrific Crash At North Lambton

The search continues for the driver of a car involved in a horrific crash at North Lambton at the weekend.

Around 2.40am on Sunday police allege a westbound Holden Commodore bearing unauthorised number plates crossed onto the wrong side of Newcastle Road after the vehicle refused to stop for police and crashed into an oncoming Hyundai near Arthur Street.

A 55-year-old female passenger in the Hyundai died in the crash - the driver, a 28-year-old woman who was 25 weeks pregnant, was taken to hospital with serous leg injuries and subsequently lost her unborn child.

Acting Assistant Commissioner Paul Dunstan says the backseat passengers, two girls aged 15 and 17 suffered serious injuries and remain under police guard in hospital.

"They are both in serious conditions in hospital and are both undergoing treatment at the moment. The incident has been determined a critical incident with independent police investigating what has occurred," he said.

Police Investigate Fatal Crash At Muswellbrook

A man has died in a two-vehicle crash at Muswellbrook.

About 5.30pm on Tuesday emergency services were called to reports of a collision between a utility and a motorbike on Maitland Street.

They arrived to find the motorcyclist, a man aged 18, had died at the scene.

He is yet to be formally identified.

Police say he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The driver and passenger of the ute - both men aged 19 - were not injured.

The driver was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

A report is being prepared for the coroner as investigations continue.

Man Killed In Motorbike Crash At Cessnock

A man has died in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash at Cessnock overnight.

Emergency services were called to Maitland Road at about 7.20pm on Wednesday where a motorcycle had left the road and crashed into a power pole.

The rider, a 32-year-old man, was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

Investigations into the crash are continuing and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Woman Dies In Hospital After Crash At Martindale

A report is being prepared for the Coroner after a fatal crash at Martindale in the Upper Hunter.

Emergency services were called to reports of a head-on crash involving a car and a B-Double truck on Martindale Road at about 3.30pm on Tuesday.

The driver, an 81-year-old man and his 82-year-old female passenger were trapped for some time before being freed.

The man was airlifted to the John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition by the region's Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

The woman was taken by road ambulance to Denman Hospital where she later died.

The truck driver, a 43-year-old man, was not injured. 

Police established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

UPDATE! Police Investigate Fatal Crash At Edgeworth

One person has died in a single vehicle crash at Edgeworth overnight.

Police say a small hatchback crashed into a power pole on Main Road just after 1.30am on Thursday.

The driver, a woman in her 30's, died in the crash.

A female passenger has been taken to the John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.

Main Road is closed westbound with diversions in place at Lake Road and the Newcastle Link Road while crash investigators examine the scene.

Fatal Crash Closes New England Highway At Muswellbrook

One person is dead and another has been airlifted to hospital after a multi-vehicle crash near Muswellbrook.

Emergency services were called to the New England Highway at Liddell just before midnight on Tuesday to reports of a 3 vehicle crash.

Police say two cars collided before a truck later hit the vehicles.

They arrived to find a man deceased in one of the vehicles, while the 22-yea-old female driver of a second car was trapped before being freed and flown to the John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.

The truck driver in his 40's was uninjured and taken to Muswellbrook Hospital for mandatory testing.

The Highway remains closed with diversions in place.

It's been a horror week on the region's roads, with a double fatality last Saturday at Denman and the death of a man in his 50's in a crash at Murulla north of Scone on Monday afternoon.

Two People Killed In Horror Smash At Muswellbrook

Investigations are continuing into a horrific crash at Muswellbrook which claimed the lives of two people.

Emergency services were called to Denman Road at about 5.30 on Saturday afternoon following reports of a head-on crash involving two cars.

A woman in her 70's who was driving one of the cars died at the scene along with a male passenger believed to be in his 20's in the second car.

Three other people, a man and two women in their 20's were treated at the scene.

The man and one of the women were airlifted to the John Hunter Hospital with serious head and pelvic injuries.

The other woman was taken by ambulance to the John Hunter.

A report is being prepared for the Coroner.

Man Dies In Single Vehicle Crash At Singleton

A report is being prepared for the Coroner after a man died in a single vehicle crash at Singleton overnight.

Police say the 56-year-old man was behind the wheel of a Isuzu ute on Dangar Road at about 8.00pm on Tuesday when the vehicle crashed into a parked car before hitting a fence.

Paramedics arrived a short time later but were not able to revive the man.

Police believe he suffered a medical episode in the lead-up to the crash.

A post mortem examination will be carried out to determine the cause of death.

BREAKING! Police Investigate Fatal Hit And Run At Harpers Hill

The New England Highway has been reopened at Harpers Hill near Greta following a fatal hit and run overnight.

Police say a 37-year-old man from Singleton Heights was walking along the highway at about 9.30pm on Wednesday when he was struck by a car and died at the scene.

The driver of the car did not stop after the incident.

Police have spoken to witnesses and crash investigators have conducted a thorough examination of the scene.

Police are appealing for the driver to contact Maitland Police Station.

Charges Laid Over Fatal Crash At Scone

Police have charged a woman over a fatal crash near Scone earlier this month.

On Friday October 4, emergency services were called to Bunnan Road at Owens Gap to reports of a crash between a Mitsubishi Lancer and a Nissan Navara.

A front seat passenger of the Lancer, a 76-year-old woman, died at the scene while the 53-year-old female driver and a 39-year-old female passenger were airlifted to the John Hunter Hospital.

A 27-year-old man driving the Nissan and his 24-year-old female passenger were also taken to the John Hunter.

Following extensive investigations, police have a charged the 53-year-old woman with dangerous and negligent driving occasioning death and failing to keep left of dividing line.

She's due to face Muswellbrook Court on December 17.

Elderly Man Dies After Crashing Into Petrol Bowser At Mayfield

Police say an elderly man most likely suffered a medical episode before crashing into a petrol bowser at Mayfield and later dying in hospital.

Emergency services were called to the BP Station on Maitland Road at about 4.30pm on Tuesday where the man's Toyota Camry had crashed into a fuel bowser while he was attempting to leave the station.

Police say the bowser sustained only minor damage in the crash.

The 82-year-old man, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was treated by paramedics before being taken to the Calvary Mater Hospital, where he later died.

He is yet to be formally identified.

A report is being prepared for the Coroner.

Teen To Face Court Over Fatal Crash At Salt Ash

Police have charged a 17-year-old boy over a fatal crash at Salt Ash.

A white Ford Falcon sedan with five teenagers on board ran off Lemon Tree Passage Road at about 10.45pm on Friday and crashed into a tree.

A 16-year-old boy died on the way to hospital while three other passengers, one aged 14 and the others aged 17, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the driver, a 17-year-old boy, returned a positive result to a roadside breath test.

He was taken to hospital for mandatory testing and further assessment.

Upon his release from hospital, he was taken to Newcastle Police station where he was charged with learner not accompanied driver, negligent driving occasioning death and special category driver drive with special range PCA.

He's been granted conditional bail to face Raymond Terrace Court on August 19.

Police Investigate E-Scooter Fatality At West Wallsend

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an e-scooter rider at West Wallsend.

Emergency services were called to Appletree Road at about 12.15pm on Sunday to reports of a crash.

Police arrived to find the rider, a man in his 30's, had fallen from his electric scooter onto the roadway.

Despite the efforts of first responders and paramedics, the man died at the scene.

The man is yet to be formally identified.

The driver of a Toyota Hilux was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Anyone with information or who has CCTV or dashcam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

BREAKING! Emergency Services Called To Fatal Crash At West Wallsend

Emergency services are at the scene of a fatal crash at West Wallsend.

It's understood a vehicle ran off the road on George Booth Drive at about 4.40am on Wednesday and crashed down an embankment.

Police say the driver, who was the sole occupant, died at the scene.

A crime scene has been established as investigations get under way in the cause of the crash.

Teen Driver Charged Over Fatal Crash At Cooranbong

An unlicensed driver is due to face the children's court today (Monday 13 May, 2024) charged over a fatal cash at Cooranbong last month.

Emergency services were called to Freemans Drive at about 12.15am on Sunday April 14, after a northbound car hit a parked SUV, understood to be a marked mobile speed camera vehicle.

An 18-year-old front seat passenger died at the scene.

The 17-year-old driver was freed from the wreckage and taken to the John Hunter Hospital, while the 43-year-old SUV driver suffered minor injuries.

The driver, now 18, was arrested at Newcastle Police Station on Saturday and charged with dangerous driving occasioning death - drive manner dangerous and negligent driving occasioning death.

He's been granted conditional bail to face Broadmeadow Children's Court today.

Teen Dies After Car Crashes Into Speed Camera Vehicle At Cooranbong

A report is being prepared for the Coroner after a passenger died in a two car crash at Cooranbong.

Police say a Subaru Impreza lost control on Freemans Drive at about 12.15am on Sunday and slammed into a fully marked mobile speed camera vehicle parked by the side of the road.

The 18-year-old male passenger died at the scene, while an 18-year-old man who was behind the wheel was freed and taken to the John Hunter Hospital for treatment and mandatory testing.

A 43-year-old man who was sitting in the mobile speed camera vehicle suffered minor injuries and didn't require treatment.
