Port Stephens police have issued a description of a man wanted for coughing on a supermarket worker at Raymond Terrace.
Police say the man became involved in a verbal altercation with the 35-year-old woman at the check out of the Woolworths Store in Glenelg Street on Tuesday night when he deliberately coughed on her.
He's described as being of Caucasian appearance, between 170 and 180cm tall with a shaved head and goatee-style facial hair.
He was wearing cream shorts and black thongs.
Police Minister, David Elliott has urged anyone with information to come forward, saying this kind of behaviour won't be tolerated during strict COVID-19 health restrictions.
"This kind of behaviour needs to stop immediately. It's potentially putting the lives of workers and their families at risk. For a disgusting act like this, you could find yourself charged with common assault and gaoled for up to two years," he said.
Meanwhile, a 52-year-old Edgeworth woman will be sentenced on Monday after pleading guilty to spitting 3 times on a Coles worker at Charlestown Square on Tuesday.
