BY IAN CROUCH

Police expect to make more arrests after smashing a major drug ring operating across the Hunter.

Officers raided 8 properties at Cessnock and three others in the Mayfield and Jesmond areas on Wednesday, arresting 10 people.

Detectives from Strike Force Hoadley have been investigating the supply of the drug ICE in the Cessnock area for the past 11 months.

Central Hunter Crime Manager, Detective Inspector George Radmore said the police operation will have a significant impact on the drug trade in the area and they expect to make more arrests in the future.
