BREAKING! Two Boys Charged Over Alleged Stabbing At Charlestown

Two boys are expected to front the children's court today (Thursday 21 August 2025) accused of another stabbing at Charlestown overnight.

Witnesses have told police two people allegedly assaulted a 32-year-old man with a knife at the North Piazza outside the Charlestown Shopping Centre on Ridley Street just after 8.30pm before the pair ran off.

The man was treated by paramedics for serious lacerations to his arm before being taken to the John Hunter Hospital for further treatment.

Police say the victim did not know his attackers and it's alleged the teens were being rowdy and turned on the man when he told them to leave the area. 

Following inquiries, police arrested two 17-year-old boys nearby.

They've each been charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm - one of the boys also charged with drug possession.

BREAKING - Man Found Dead at Charlestown

Police are on scene near Charlestown Square after a man was found dead in a carpark along Ridley St just before 10am.

Its believed the elderly man was stabbed, the area has now been cordoned off.

He died prior to the arrival of police and ambulance.

Another man was spotted running south along the Pacific Highway shortly after the incident.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact Belmont Police Station or Crime Stoppers.

Officers from the Lake Macquarie Police District have established a crime scene. 

Carpark where the man is thought to have been stabbed.

BREAKING! Teenage Girl Arrested After Fatal Stabbing At Edgeworth

A teenage girl is assisting police with their inquiries over the alleged stabbing death of another girl known to her at Edgeworth.

Emergency services were called to Euston Avenue at about 10.20pm on Monday August 4 to reports of a stabbing.

Paramedics treated a teenage girl for a stab wound to her torso before taking her to hospital in a critical condition where she later died.

The girl is yet to be formally identified.

Police arrested a teenage girl at the scene.

A crime scene has been established and will be forensically examined by specialist officers.

Officers from the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad are investigating the circumstances surrounding the girl's death.

Teen To Front Court Over Alleged Stabbing At Raymond Terrace

A teenager is due to front court today (Tuesday 4 February, 2025) charged with reckless wounding following the alleged assault of two men at Raymond Terrace.

Police say two men aged 31 were attacked on Benjamin Lee Drive near Lakeside Park in the early hours of Sunday morning - one of them was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition with a stab wound to his back.

The second man was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Following extensive inquiries, police went to a home in Raymond Terrace yesterday afternoon and arrested a 17-year-old boy.

He's been refused bail to face the children's court today.

Police Appeal For Information After Alleged Stabbing Murder At Gateshead

Homicide detectives are stepping up their appeal for information following the stabbing death of a man at Gateshead.

The 37-year-old was found with multiple stab wounds just after 11.00pm last Thursday (9 January, 2025) at a home on Mahogany Crescent and died at the scene.

It's reported there was a house party at the home earlier in the night.

A post mortem on Monday revealed the man sustained several stab wounds.

His death is being treated as suspicious and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

Five Teenagers Arrested Over Alleged Violent Home Invasion In Merewether

A man's been stabbed in the stomach during an alleged home invasion in Merewether overnight.

Just before 3:00am on Tuesday the 19th of September, police were called to a home on Coane Street, following reports of a home invasion.

They were told four people forced their way into the home before two occupants confronted them.

During a resulting altercation, a 49-year-old male occupant was stabbed in the abdomen, and a 75-year old woman suffered minor injuries.

The alleged attackers fled the scene.

They were both taken to the John Hunter Hospital for treatment and it's understood the man is in a critical condition.

Officers attached to the Newcastle City Police District established a crime scene and arrested five teenagers, two boys and three girls, a short time later.

They were taken to Newcastle Police Station to assist police with their inquiries.

Verdict Delivered Over Fatal Shortland Stabbing

A judge has found the man who fatally stabbed well-known Shortland local Robert "Bobby" Palmer outside a service station did not know what he was doing when he committed the act. 

Justice Stephen Campbell found this morning Zach Mavin had "no appreciation of the wrongfulness of his actions" on the night of December 12th 2020. 

Mr Mavin stabbed Mr Palmer once in the abdomen, after demanding cash and cigarettes from a service station attendant on Sandgate Road. 

Justice Campbell has delivered special verdicts of "act proven but not criminally responsible" to the charges of attempted armed robbery and murder. 

It means Mr Mavin will be referred to the Mental Health Review Tribunal and detained as a forensic patient until it's determined his release is unlikely to endanger himself or anyone in the community.

Two Men in Hospital After Alleged Stabbing at Broadmeadow Station

A man is in police custody after another man was allegedly stabbed at a train station in Newcastle this morning.

Emergency services were called to Broadmeadow Train Station about 10:15am, following reports a man had suffered a stab wound to his abdomen.

He's been taken to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition, after being treated at the scene by paramedics.

Police reportedly deployed capsicum spray in order to arrest the alleged offender outside the station.

He's been taken to the Calvary Mater Hospital where he remains under police guard.

Officers from the Newcastle City Police District have established a crime scene and an investigation is now underway into the circumstances surrounding the event.

Two People Arrested Over Alleged Double Stabbing In Newcastle West

A teenager and a woman have been arrested over the alleged stabbing of two Nepalese chefs on a laneway in Newcastle West.

The alleged victims, two men aged  25  and 28 were walking along Devonshire Street at about 3.30am on January 19 when they were set upon by one of three people.

Both suffered stab wounds - one needed surgery for a knife wound to the neck, the other was treated for a badly injured arm.

Newcastle detectives arrested two people at a property on Blue Gum Road at Jesmond at about 12.10am on Wednesday.

The 18-year-old man and 31-year-old woman have been refused bail to face Newcastle Local Court today (Thursday 2 March, 2023) charged with two counts of wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possess unauthorised pistol, and possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority..

UPDATE: Police Investigate Stabbing Of Two International Students In Newcastle West

 Police are appealing for dash-cam footage as they investigate the stabbing of two men In Newcastle West early Thursday morning.

Police and paramedics were called to Devonshire Street between King and Hunter Streets at about 3.30am to find two men aged 25 and 28 with stab wounds.

Police have told 2NURFM News the two international students were confronted by two men and a woman.

Police say the wallet of the 25-year-old man was stolen during the incident.

Police have set up a crime scene as investigations continue.

EARLIER:

Police are investigating a savage assault on two international students from the University of Newcastle early Thursday morning.

Police say the two young men were walking in a lane way off King Street around 3.00am when they were confronted by two men and a woman.

It's understood one of the students suffered a stab wound during the incident - both young men were injured and were taken to the John Hunter Hospital where they are reported to be in a stable condition.

Police say a motive for the attack is not known at this stage and they're asking anyone with information or witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers.

Man In Serious Condition After Stabbing At Nelson Bay

Police are appealing for witnesses to a stabbing incident at Nelson Bay.

Officers were called to reports of a brawl on Donald Street at about 1.30am on Sunday.

They attended a home on Shoal Bay Road a short time later and found a 41-year-old man with multiple stab wounds to his back.

He was airlifted to the John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition, suffering collapsed lungs, bruising and cuts to his head.

A number of items have been collected from Donald Street and police have seized a vehicle for examination.

Anyone who witnessed the brawl, or who has dashcam footage is urged to call Crime Stoppers.

Detectives Step Up Appeal For Information Into Stabbing At Newcastle Baths

Police have released CCTV images of a man they wish to question in relation to a stabbing at Newcastle Baths last year.

On the evening of Monday June 14, an 18-year-old man was found with a stab wound to his back.

Despite intensive investigations, strike force detectives have yet to make an arrest.

They've released images showing a man in the vicinity of Queens Wharf.

He was wearing dark clothing, had his face covered and was carrying a light-coloured backpack.

BREAKING! Plumber Accused Of Stabbing Workmate At Blackalls Park

A plumber is due to face court today accused of stabbing a colleague on a construction site at Blackalls Park.

Police say the 39-year-old had issues with work completed by his workmate at the Faucett Street site on Monday afternoon, with the pair having a heated conversation over the phone.

The 33-year-old man returned to the site where an argument between the pair became physical before the older man allegedly stabbed his younger colleague in the arm with a knife.

He was treated at the scene before being taken to the John Hunter Hospital for further treatment.

Police stopped the older man's vehicle at Boolaroo where he was arrested.

He's been refused bail to face Toronto Local Court today (Tuesday 31 August 2021) charged with wound with intent and affray.

Man Faces Court Over Alleged Stabbing At Huntlee

A 19-year-old man is due to face court accused of stabbing another man outside a Hunter Valley home.

Police say the pair, who are known to each other, allegedly become involved in a physical altercation in Lockwood Street, Huntlee late on Friday night.

A 24-year-old suffered a knife wound to his side and was driven to Cessnock Hospital by a woman before being transferred to the John Hunter, where he remains in a stable condition.

The 19-year-old man was arrested at Cessnock Police Station on Saturday night and faced Newcastle Bail Court on Sunday charged with reckless wounding - he'll face Cessnock Court on Wednesday 1 September, 2021.

BREAKING! Man Stabbed Multiple Times Near Newcastle Ocean Baths

Police are appealing for information after a man was found with multiple stab wounds in Newcastle East.

Emergency services were called to Shortland Esplanade near the Ocean Baths at about 9.45pm on Monday, finding an 18-year-old man with several knife wounds to his shoulder and back.

He was taken to the John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition with non life-threatening injuries.

A crime scene was established and the area cordoned off for several hours.

Police believe the victim was with his girlfriend when he was injured in an unprovoked attack - the woman was not injured during the altercation.

Man To Face Court Accused Of Stabbing Co-Worker At Mayfield Cafe

A man is due to face court over an alleged stabbing incident at Mayfield.

Emergency services were called to the Onyx Espresso Bar on Maitland Road just after 2.30pm on Wednesday to reports a 27-year-old woman had been stabbed in the chest.

Detective Superintendent Wayne Humphrey says police and paramedics were confronted with a horrific scene.

"The knife was embedded in her chest and remained in her chest when emergency services arrived. She was rushed to the John Hunter Hospital by Ambulance under police escort," he said.

It's understood the alleged victim is the chef at the cafe - she remains in intensive care at the John Hunter Hospital.

Police arrested a 23-year-old man in a nearby street shortly after the incident - he's reported to be a co-worker of the injured woman.

He's been charged with attempted murder and wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and has been refused bail to face Newcastle Local Court today (Thursday 13 May 2021).

Police say they are yet to establish a motive for the attack.

Police Seek Public Help Over Fatal Stabbing At Broadmeadow

Police are appealing for dashcam footage as they investigate a fatal stabbing at Broadmeadow at the weekend.

A 56-year-old man went to a home on Broadmeadow Road at about 8.20pm on Sunday where a female resident noticed he'd been stabbed in the stomach.

The woman and a neighbour rendered first aid before he was taken to the John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.

Police say the man died in hospital early Tuesday morning.

They're asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the vicinity of the Nineways at Broadmeadow between 7.00pm and 8.30pm on Sunday to contact Crime Stoppers.

Police Investigating Double Stabbing at Cliftleigh

Police are investigating after two men were stabbed at Cliftleigh. 

About 1.50am on Friday emergency services were called to a home on Shalistan Street following reports two men were fighting and had been stabbed.

On arrival, police found a man, aged in his 20s, with stab wounds to the chest and head.

He was treated at the scene before being taken to John Hunter Hospital. 

He remains in a stable condition.

Police were told a second man left the scene prior to their arrival.

A short time later, police were notified when the 27-year-old man attended Maitland Hospital suffering stab wounds to the chest and neck. 

He was later taken to John Hunter Hospital where he is reported to be in a critical condition.

Officers from Hunter Valley Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police are conducting a canvass of the area and appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Police Searching for Man as Part of Investigations into Stabbing at Jesmond Unit

Police are appealing for public assistance as as part of investigations into a stabbing during a home invasion in Jesmond earlier this year.

About 10.30pm on July 15, emergency services were called to a unit on Blue Gum Road to find a 29-year-old man with multiple stab wounds. 

He was taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment and has since been released.

As investigations continue, detectives are hoping to speak to a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He’s described as being of Caucasian appearance, between 170cm and 175cm tall, with a stocky build, wearing dark clothing and had his face covered.

It’s believed the man left in a vehicle, described only as a light coloured four-door sedan which was waiting nearby.

Anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious between 10pm and 11pm on Tuesday 15 July, or who may have nearby dashcam or CCTV footage is urged to contact Newcastle Police or Crime Stoppers.

Man Facing Court, After Alleged Armpit Stabbing in Lake Macquarie

A man has been charged after allegedly stabbing another man in Lake Macquarie on Tuesday.

About 1.45pm, emergency services were called to a home on Earswick Crescent, Buttaba, following reports that a man had been seriously injured during a fight.

Police were told that a 27-year-old man attended the home and allegedly punched a 47-year-old man multiple times before stabbing him in the armpit and leaving the scene.

Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District attended, along with NSW Ambulance paramedics, who treated the older man for his injuries. He was taken to John Hunter Hospital for surgery.

A short time later, police arrested the 27-year-old on Wyee Road, Doyalson.

He was taken to Toronto Police Station and charged with reckless wounding (DV) and assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV).

The Wyee man was refused bail to appear in Toronto Local Court on Wednesday.

The two men are known to each other.
