BREAKING! Crash Closes Pacific Highway Southbound At Doyalson

A high speed single vehicle crash has closed the southbound lanes of the Pacific Highway at Doyalson.

Emergency services were called to the scene near Wentworth Avenue just before 4.00am on Wednesday to find a car had crashed into a pole power.

Fire and Rescue says the car split in two on impact and the driver fled the scene.

A 22-year-old man has since been located at an address in San Remo - he's been taken to the John Hunter Hospital with suspected facial fractures.

The power pole has been compromised and is split at the base.

Energy repair crews have been called to the scene.

Fears Mounting For Man Missing From Mannering Park

Police hope to speak to work colleagues today of a man reported missing from southern Lake Macquarie.

48-year-old Craig Wheatley from Mannering Park was last seen at a licensed venue in Doyalson at about 3 o'clock on Friday morning.

Police and family hold serious concerns for his welfare as his disappearance is out of character.

He is known to frequent the Watagan Forest and may be driving a white Toyota Hilux Workmate with the NSW registration EWG 54C

Craig is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 190cm tall with grey hair and a grey beard.

He was last seen wearing a black shirt and black shorts.

Man killed in Doyalson crash

One man has died and a second has been seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash at Doyalson on Monday night. 

Emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway about 8.30pm, finding a northbound SUV and a southbound hatchback had collided head-on in the southbound lanes. 

The driver of the hatchback, a 56-year-old man, died at the scene.

The driver of the SUV, a 52-year-old man, was treated by paramedics before being taken to the John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition. 

Police established a crime scene with Crash Investigation Unit officers undertaking inquiries.

Man Facing Court, After Alleged Armpit Stabbing in Lake Macquarie

A man has been charged after allegedly stabbing another man in Lake Macquarie on Tuesday.

About 1.45pm, emergency services were called to a home on Earswick Crescent, Buttaba, following reports that a man had been seriously injured during a fight.

Police were told that a 27-year-old man attended the home and allegedly punched a 47-year-old man multiple times before stabbing him in the armpit and leaving the scene.

Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District attended, along with NSW Ambulance paramedics, who treated the older man for his injuries. He was taken to John Hunter Hospital for surgery.

A short time later, police arrested the 27-year-old on Wyee Road, Doyalson.

He was taken to Toronto Police Station and charged with reckless wounding (DV) and assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV).

The Wyee man was refused bail to appear in Toronto Local Court on Wednesday.

The two men are known to each other.
