UPDATE: Upper Hunter Crash Victim and Murder Suspect Named

Tamworth dentist Dr Harshwardhan Narde has been identified as the man killed in a deliberate crash in the Upper Hunter who has since been linked to the murder of a Sydney dentist.

The 34-year-old was the ex-boyfriend of  32-year-old Dr Preethi Reddy, whose body was discovered inside a suitcase in her car last night.

The pair had stayed at a Sydney hotel together to attend a dental convention over the weekend before Dr Reddy's family reported her missing.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the pair's deaths and are working to establish a timeline.


UPDATE 9AM:

Police have confirmed the driver of the BMW involved in the fatal collision at Willow Tree was known to Sydney dentist Preethi Reddy, whose body was discovered in a suitcase in Sydney's East overnight.

The 32-year-old had been at a dental convention and told her family she was on her way home on Sunday morning but failed to return.

Her body was discovered in a suitcase inside a car, she had been stabbed multiple times.

Police later determined Dr Reddy had stayed with a man known to her at a hotel in the city's CBD on Sunday night and it has now been confirmed the driver of the BMW was the same man.

It's now been confirmed he was Dr Reddy's ex-boyfriend.

Police are looking into whether the crash was deliberate.


EARLIER:

Police investigating a fatal collision near Willow Tree in the Upper Hunter are looking into whether one of the drivers deliberately caused the crash.

A BMW collided head-on with a semi-trailer loaded with fruit and vegetables on the New England Highway just after 10.00pm on Monday.

The truck veered across the road through a guard rail and the 49-year-old driver managed to free himself from the cabin before the rig went up flames.

He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

The male driver of the BMW died at the scene and is yet to be formally identified.

As we reported yesterday, forensic officers were called in to examine the crash scene

It's now believed the driver of the BMW may have intentionally hit the truck.
