Hundreds Of Wild Horses Killed During Aerial Cull At Singleton

BY IAN CROUCH

The Hunter Valley Brumby Association has described a cull of feral horses at the Singleton Army Base as a massacre.

Official figures have now been released from the aerial cull last December.

Fairfax reports a contractor killed 235 horses in the space of 7-and-a-half hours at a rate of 31 per hour.

The Association is questioning whether the cull was carried out humanely, saying it's unlikely the marksman would've been able to get a clean shot into every horse from a moving target and whether it was possible to exclude pregnant mares from the cull as was originally promised.
