Woman Treated After Fire Engulfs Cessnock Home

BY IAN CROUCH

A home at Cessnock has been severely damaged by fire overnight.

Firefighters from Cessnock and Bellbird responded to several triple zero calls just after 1.00am today, arriving to find the front of the single storey brick and tile home in O'Brien Street well alight.

It took crews 3 hours to extinguish and mop up the fire, which caused extensive damage to three bedrooms.

A female resident was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

It's still not clear what sparked the fire.
