Newcastle City Council has announced the appointment of a new Interim CEO.
Former Hunter Water executive, Jeremy Bath will take up the role on May 15 for 12 months, taking over from Frank Cordingley.
He's vowed to end the division between councillors and the unhealthy association with politics at City Hall.
It comes after some councillors criticised the selection process saying it was pre-determined and wasn't subject to the normal sub-committee protocol.
