Police Deploy Road Spikes During Police Pursuit At Tomago

BY IAN CROUCH

Police have deployed road spikes to arrest a man wanted over a break and enter at Wallsend  overnight.

Officers were alerted to a break-in occurring at a unit in Victory Parade just after 10.30 and later noticed a car seen leaving the area travelling through Sandgate.

Police pursed the car, using road spikes to stop the vehicle on Tomago Road at Tomago.

The driver was taken to Waratah Police Station and charged with several offences including being in possession of an unauthorised pistol and an offensive weapon (Samurai sword), goods in custody and driving while suspended.

He's been refused bail to front Newcastle Local Court today.
