Roads and Maritime Services have started work to improve on safety at the intersection on Medcalf Street and Russell Avenue at Warners Bay.
The Government is spending 150-thousand dollars to help reconfigure the intersection to make a safer right hand turning lane on Medcalf Street for vehicles turning into Russell Avenue.
During construction; which is expected to finish within 2 weeks, changed traffic conditions will be made including a 40km speed limit, lane closures and traffic diversions to ensure safety of motorists and the workers.
Last year there were six crashes within a 50 metre radius of the intersection which caused two injuries, the safety improvements will address the problems like poor sight distance and turning.
