A protester who caused a Newcastle coal terminal to shut down for nearly four hours has escaped with a $300 fine.
Scott Mackenzie climbed onto the Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group Loader during last month's anti-coal protest - his demonstration costing the coal company more than $100,000, while 10 police officers and several paramedics were needed to get him down.
It's understood the 41-year-old has been charged by police over at least half a dozen protests in the past.
