The death of a patient at JOHN HUNTER Hospital last month has prompted calls for a full and independent inquiry from State Member for WALLSEND, Ms SONIA HORNERY MP.
The woman in her forties was found dead in a bathroom just metres from her bed after she was missing for nearly 8 hours
"The events of last month highlight what I see as a chronic failing in the NSW health system", Ms Hornery said.
"It's horrifying to think that a woman died just metres from help while hospital staff spent hours looking for her".
Ms Hornery has also renewed her calls for the minister of Health to ensure vacancies at HUNTER New England Health are filled as soon as possible
