Christopher Daunt Murder Latest

BY IAN CROUCH

More details have emerged about the alleged murder of Gateshead builder, Christopher Daunt.

The 28-year-old disappeared in April 2015.

Detectives from Strike Force Retractor yesterday arrested 33-year-old Rankin Park local, Christopher Robertson - he was charged with murder in Newcastle Local Court today.

Robertson did not requested bail and it was formally refused.

It's alleged Robertson bashed Daunt at a North Lambton home before dumping his body in bushland at Seahampton.

Detective Inspector Craig Davis told reporters this morning the pair were friends and had known each other for about 5 years.

Inspector Davis would not elaborate on the motive or the extent of injuries which Daunt suffered, saying they were now a matter for the court.

"Today, investigators and Forensic police are currently at a bushland scene off George Booth Drive at Seahampton where some skeletal remains have been located. Investigators believe those skeletal remains may be those of Christopher Daunt. The identification of those remains will be subject to further forensic testing," he said.
