An investigation is under way into the death of a man who was found critically injured at Gateshead overnight.
Emergency services were called to a home on Mahogany Crescent just after 11.00pm on Thursday where they found the man believed in his 30's with stab wounds.
He was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.
Police have set up a crime scene and are now looking into the circumstances of how the man cake to be injured.
Officers are speaking to a number of people and will conduct a canvas of the neighbourhood.
