Fresh Charge Laid on Former Hunter Tennis Coach

By SAMUEL BARTLETT

A fresh charge has been laid against former Maitland tennis coach Todd Woods after he was accused of repeatedly indecently assaulting a young girl in East Maitland over a period of four years.

Now based in Sydney, police allege he indecently assaulted the girl he was coaching - aged 13-17 at the time - in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Woods was charged by Hunter Valley detectives in September last year following a three year investigation.

The new charge of having an unlawful relationship with a minor totals seven alleged offences, also including five counts of inciting aggravated indecency, three of which were towards a minor under the age of 16.

The 57-year-old faced Newcastle local court via video-link on Wednesday afternoon where the court heard the seven charges.

Woods will face the Newcastle local again at the end of March.
