Fire Breaks Out in West Waratah Home

A fire which broke out at a home in Waratah after 11:30 on Thursday morning has finally been extinguished thanks to the efforts of more than 20 Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters.

crews arrived on the scene at Acacia Avenue, Waratah West to find the home well alight with billowing smoke after numerous Triple Zero calls.

After fighting the flames for more than an hour, the inferno was controlled just before 1pm.

The home has suffered significant fire and smoke damage but no injuries have been reported.

a Fire and Rescue NSW spokesperson said it was important the community remembered to keep looking when cooking, with unattended cooking being the leading cause of house fires in NSW.
