EARLIER:

Police believe a 13-year-old with Autism who went missing at Heatherbrae may be travelling home to the Blue Mountains.

Darshan Seigel walked off from a carpark at the intersection of the Pacific Highway and Masonite Road at about 9.15pm on Tuesday after an argument with his mother.

Superintendent Chad Gillies says the teenager may be travelling by train or possibly car.

"That particular area is around a lot of transport, trucks etc which come through the Pacific Highway there. It's also feasible he may have hitch-hiked. He only had a little bit of money on him - some coins perhaps, no mobile phone and he does have the car keys," he said.

There's been no trace of him despite an extensive search of the area by police with the assistance of the Dog Unit and further resources are being deployed to look for him.

He's described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, with a thin build and sandy blonde hair.

Darshan was last seen wearing a pink hooded jumper covered by a black jacket, black pants and yellow shoes.

If you've seen Darshan contact Triple Zero immediately.
