BY IAN CROUCH

Quick work by police has resulted in the arrest of a man accused of trying to break into a multi-purpose centre at Charlestown early this morning.

A General Duties officer, the Dog Squad and a police supervisor responded to an intruder alarm at the centre on Mulbinga Street just before 3.30am, arriving within a minute of the alarm going off.

They found a 25-year-old man running away from the location.

The Charlestown man was arrested, and searched.

It's alleged he had 1.16 grams of ICE and 0.93 grams of cannabis in his possession.

He's expected to be charged with drug possession and break and enter with intent to steal.
