BY IAN CROUCH

Police are treating the death of a woman on the railway line at Booragul as a tragic accident.

Emergency services were called just before 6.30 last night after the Sydney-bound XPT struck the 34-year-old woman as she was walking along the track.

Police say she may have been taking a short-cut home.

More than 100 people were on the train when the accident happened.

The rail line was closed  from more than 4 hours while the accident scene was cleared.

Train services are back to normal this morning.
