Teenage Motorcycle Rider Caught Travelling 100km Over The Speed Limit In Muswellbrook

BY OLIVIA DILLON

A young man from Muswellbrook has been caught travelling more than 100km over the speed limit at the weekend.

A number of community members reported seeing two sports-style motorcycle riders driving recklessly in the Muswellbrook area last Friday night (the 8th of September, 2023).

Officers soon located one of the young males on Maitland Road, and while they interacted with him, were approached by the second rider on a modified 2007 Yamaha R6.

It's estimated the driver passed police, travelling at around 160km/h in a 50 zone.

Due to the high speed and wet weather conditions, police did not initiate a pursuit.

Just after 1:00am on Saturday morning, officers located the 18-year-old rider off the New England Highway at Muswellbrook, and it was revealed he held a learners license.

He was arrested and his license was suspended and confiscated.

He's due to face local court on the 19th of September, 2023.
