Teenagers Charged Over Pursuit Through Lake Macquarie And The Central Coast

Two teenagers will face court today, after they allegedly led police on a pursuit around Lake Macquarie and the Central Coast. 

At about 7:00pm yesterday (Tuesday the 31st of October, 2023), officers attempted to stop a Honda station wagon which they believed was stolen on the Pacific Highway at Kanwal. 

When the vehicle failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated, however it was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.  

With the assistance of PolAir, the vehicle was located at Toukley before it came to a stop along The Esplanade at Swansea.

The two occupants fled on foot into nearby bushland, but were located a short time later.

The boys, aged 15 and 16, were arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station.

They've both been refused bail and will face a children's court today.

UPDATE! Manhunt Underway In Newcastle

UPDATE:

More information has been released in regards to a pursuit in Newcastle. 

Police say officers were called to a home on Acacia Avenue at North Lambton, about 11:00am this morning (Wednesday 16th August), following reports a man had been assaulted and had his red 2010 Holden Commodore sedan stolen. 

A short time later, police found the vehicle had been abandoned on Mayo Street at Jesmond.

A police operation involving PolAir is now underway in Jesmond to locate the man.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, of a slim build, with facial hair.

Police have been told he was wearing a black top with white stripes down the sleeves, blue shorts, a black cap, and red shoes.

Anyone with information, or who may have seen a man leaving the car is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.


EARLIER:

The police helicopter has been called in to assist with a manhunt in Newcastle. 

The PolAir chopper has been seen circling the Birmingham Gardens, Jesmond and Waratah areas as part of the alleged pursuit.  

Witnesses have told the Newcastle Herald, they've heard over the speaker, officers are searching for a man in his mid-20s. 

He is described as being clean-shaven, with olive skin, and is wearing a long black shirt and blue shorts.

He was last seen in Jesmond at about 12:00pm on Wednesday the 15th of August 2023. 

Anyone who has seen the man or has any information which may help police with their search is being asked to call 000.

Driver Of Allegedly Stolen Vehicle in Muswellbrook Still On The Run

Police are on the hunt for the driver of an allegedly stolen car which led officers on a pursuit though Muswellbrook this morning. 

Officers initiated the pursuit on Maitland Street at around 4 O'CLOCK this morning when they spotted a vehicle believed to have been stolen. 

Police pursued the car for a short time around the Muswellbrook township before losing sight of the vehicle. 

They're now reviewing CCTV footage from around the area as investigations continue.

Stolen Motorbike Rider to be Charged After Police Pursuit

A man's expected to be charged today, after leading Hunter police on a pursuit overnight.

Police allege they spotted a stolen motorbike on South Street at Windale at about 6:45pm, and followed it to the Homemaker Centre at Bennetts Green where they initiated a pursuit.

After it was deemed too unsafe to continue the chase along the Pacific Highway, Pol-Air was called in to follow the bike.

The rider attempted to turn at the intersection of Kirkdale Drive and Charlestown Road, but lost control and crashed.

He fled the scene but was apprehended and arrested a short time later after a foot pursuit.

He did not have any serious injuries but was taken to John Hunter Hospital where he remained overnight.

He'll be released and charged today.

Four Charged Over Alleged Hunter Valley Police Pursuit

Four people will face court today after allegedly leading police on a pursuit through the Hunter yesterday.

At about 9:00am, Traffic and Highway Patrol officers detected a Toyota Hilux allegedly travelling at high speed on Broke Road at Pokolbin.

When the driver failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated through Wollombi, with road spikes successfully deployed at Paynes Crossing.

The vehicle stopped at a nearby property and the four occupants fled, before allegedly stealing a Nissan ute parked nearby and driving off.

Police deployed road spikes again a short time later, stopping the vehicle at Sweetmans Creek, where the occupants fled into bushland.

Following an extensive foot pursuit, a 37-year-old woman and three men were arrested and taken to Cessnock Police Station. 

They've been charged with a combined 43 offences, including using a weapon to avoid apprehension.
