A man is due to face court today (Monday 5 July, 2021) over the alleged murder of a 63-year-old man at Mayfield at the weekend.
Police found the victim's body in the bedroom of a Regent Street home unit at about 6.30pm on Saturday.
They arrested a 35-year-old man an hour later at Argenton.
The Mayfield man has been refused bail to face Newcastle Local Court today.
Police are remaining tight-lipped about the 63-year-old's death and it's not clear if the two men are related.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out on the victim's body today.
