A man remains in a critical condition in the John Hunter Hospital after a horror smash at Pelaw Main.
A Toyota Corolla and a Ford Territory collided head-on on Leggetts Drive at about 3.15pm on Thursday.
The injured man was trapped for a short time in the Toyota before being freed and airlifted to hospital.
The female driver of the Ford managed to free herself and was assessed at the scene by paramedics.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is being urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
