A man is due to face court today over an alleged armed robbery on a Redhead grocery store.
Police say the man entered the store on Cowlishaw Street last Wednesday morning and threatened a worker with a knife before running off with cigarettes.
The worker wasn't injured during the incident.
Inquiries led officers to a home at Windale at about 2.00pm on Monday where an 18-year-old man was arrested.
He's been refused bail to face Newcastle Local Court charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon.
