Port Stephens Water Police Rescue Skipper After Hand-Built Wooden Yacht Falls Apart

BY ISABEL EVERETT

Port Stephens Water Police have conducted an interesting rescue, involving a gentleman on his homemade timber yacht.

On Sunday April 11, water police were tasked to an area around two nautical miles off Boondelbah Island, after the man's trimaran suffered damaged to its sail.

Police knew the skipper required assistance after he’d logged his trip with the local Marine Rescue, and towed the man and his trimaran back to shore

He also had a VHF radio, and other safety equipment on board.
