Elderly Men Rescued From Runabout At Fingal Bay

 BY IAN CROUCH

Three elderly men are safely on dry land after their runabout got into trouble on Port Stephenson Wednesday night.

Police say the trio, in their early 80's, were in a 4.2 metre tinny just before 7 o'clock when the boat hit the Fingal Spit at speed, throwing them forward with a massive jolt.

Police and paramedics drove up the beach and were able to reach the men, who were treated at the scene for minor cuts and abrasions.

The boat has also been recovered.

Police say there's been a recent build-up of sand on the spit which the men were not aware of.
