Driver Allegedly Blows Mid-Range After Police Pursuit At Wyee

BY IAN CROUCH

A 23-year-old man is due to face court accused of leading police on a high speed pursuit at Wyee.

Officer spotted a green Subaru Forrester travelling at high speed along Wyee Road at Morisset at about 10.00pm on Thursday and began following the vehicle, but weren't able to catch up with the car until it was held up by traffic at the roundabout at Wyee Road and Rutley Road.

Checks on the vehicle allegedly showed the registration was cancelled in January 2019.

Police say the car continued travelling at high speed, clocking the vehicle reaching speeds of 110 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.

The vehicle turned into Webber Road at Wyee which is a dead end street, where the car was forced to stop.

Police say the driver repeatedly uttered, "I'm just stupid" as he was arrested and searched.

The officers also determined his drivers licence had been suspended, while a roadside breath test returned a positive result.

He was taken to Toronto Police Station where a Breath Analysis allegedly returned a mid-rage reading of 0.070.

The man's been charged with mid range drink driving and other driving offences and will face Toronto Local Court later this month.
