A man has been arrested after allegedly fleeing the scene of a car crash along Tomago Road at around midnight on Thursday.
Emergency services were called to the area after reports of a two-vehicle crash.
Police arrived to find a 59 year old man trapped in his Subaru Impreza which was overturned in a culvert.
With assistance from Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW Ambulance paramedics, the driver of the Subaru was extricated and taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment for hip and leg injuries.
The 47 year old driver of the Toyota Camry had allegedly fled the scene after incident.
Police have been told the two cars were travelling along Tomago Road before the Toyota collided with the back of the Subaru, causing it to lose control.
Port-Stephens officers and the Dog unit found the driver of the Toyota hiding within the grounds of a nearby business.
He was taken to John Hunter hospital with minor injuries and is expected to be charged when released.
