An organisation which won international acclaim for spearheading Newcastle's revitalisation will close for good next month due to a lack of funding.
In the past 10 years, Renew Newcastle has helped 174 successful small businesses to set up in under-utilised office space in the CBD.
The organisation won a tender to develop the former Newcastle Railway Station into a community hub, but will now abandon the venture.
General Manager, Christopher Saunders says the loss of major funding partners and the financial challenges of setting up The Station had become insurmountable.
