Fire crews have been called to a suspicious fire at Carrington.
Newcastle Fire Command says they received a call from a female resident of a home attached to a large steel shed on the corner of Young and Darvall Streets just after 4.30, saying someone had lit FOUR fires in and around the building.
Firefighters from Carrington, Newcastle and Mayfield West are still at the scene.
The extent of damage is not yet known.
