A Lambton pensioner has been left shaken but otherwise unharmed after a man entered her home and demanded her handbag.
The 72-year-old had spent Saturday afternoon helping a friend clean out a house and was unpacking a car and carrying items into her Armstrong Street home at about 6pm when a man appeared at the doorway.
Police say the man entered the premises, threatened the woman and her friend and demanded their handbags.
The woman told reporters the man appeared to be holding a gun in his right hand and fled with her handbag containing about $70.00.
"If he had asked for money I would have given it to him," the woman told reporters.
Police say the man is described as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander appearance, about 30-years-old with a medium build and was last seen wearing a beanie.
They're urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
