The Huntlee Academy are appealing to the public for information after suffering a devastating thievery from their program which seeks to provide employment to local people with disabilities.
The thieves stole approximately $2,000 worth of firewood, which has forced Huntlee to close down the program as the wood was to be sold to support the wages of the four program employees.
General Manager at Huntlee, Hamish Rodgers, says the thievery has been a huge blow for the employees.
"It is a terrible thing to do, but especially when you are stealing from a charity and from those in our community who have least to give, and people who we are trying to motivate to get into the workforce," says Rodgers.
"They probably don't realise the kind of organisation they are stealing from."
