Four People Arrested As Police Crack Down On Unregistered Trail Bikes At Windale

Police have arrested four people in connection with illegal trail bike offences in the Windale area.

With the help of the Polair helicopter, several trail bikes were tracked to a home in Moorilla Close.

Two men who police alleged were seen riding unregistered motorbikes at speed and doing wheelies around South Street, were arrested.

The pair aged 20, have been charged with several traffic offences and are due to face court on April 9.

Police also seized an unregistered motor bike.

While at the home it's alleged two males, one aged 15, assaulted police.

The older male has bee charged and the teenager will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.

 

Wanted Man Facing Muswellbrook Court On Traffic, Property And Hunting Offences

A man wanted on more than two dozen traffic and hunter offences is due to face Muswellbrook Local Court today (Monday 19 February 2024).

Following investigations, Police went to a property on Ridgeland Road at Wybong early Sunday morning to arrest a 30-year-old man.

When they arrived, it's a alleged the man fled from the residence, driving through bushland in a utility.

PolAir tracked the vehicle and the man was arrested a short time later.

On top of the 27 traffic, property and hunting offences, the Singleton man is facing a further 6 charges including take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, two counts of police pursuit and drive while suspended and disqualified.

The man's been held in custody pending his court appearance today.

 

Woman Arrested After Police Operation At Mayfield

A woman is due to face court today after sparking a major police operation at Mayfield.

Police were called to Arnold Street at about 9.30am on Sunday to reports of a break-in unfolding, with a woman allegedly seen running from a home.

Officers arrested a 47-year-old woman nearby following a short foot chase with the assistance of the PolAir helicopter.

She's been charged with 2 counts of break-and-enter with intent to steal, and one count of break, enter and steal.

The woman's been refused bail to face Newcastle Local Court today (Monday 22 January, 2024).

Police Arrest Man Accused Of Prompting PolAir Pursuit

A man has been charged following an investigation into an alleged assault and stolen car at North Lambton.

Police were called to a home on Acacia Avenue about 11:00am on Wednesday (16th of August 2023), and were told a man had been assaulted and had his car stolen. 

 

The 65-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for a laceration to his arm.

 

A short time later, police located the car abandoned on Mayo Street at Jesmond.

 

Police canvassed the area with assistance from PolAir and the Dog Unit, however the man was unable to be located.

 

Following extensive inquiries and a public appeal, a 36-year-old man was arrested at Waratah at about 12:40pm yesterday (17th of August 2023).

 

He was refused bail to face Newcastle Local Court today (Friday 18th of August). 

 

 

 

 

 

 

UPDATE! Manhunt Underway In Newcastle

UPDATE:

More information has been released in regards to a pursuit in Newcastle. 

Police say officers were called to a home on Acacia Avenue at North Lambton, about 11:00am this morning (Wednesday 16th August), following reports a man had been assaulted and had his red 2010 Holden Commodore sedan stolen. 

A short time later, police found the vehicle had been abandoned on Mayo Street at Jesmond.

A police operation involving PolAir is now underway in Jesmond to locate the man.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, of a slim build, with facial hair.

Police have been told he was wearing a black top with white stripes down the sleeves, blue shorts, a black cap, and red shoes.

Anyone with information, or who may have seen a man leaving the car is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

EARLIER:

The police helicopter has been called in to assist with a manhunt in Newcastle. 

The PolAir chopper has been seen circling the Birmingham Gardens, Jesmond and Waratah areas as part of the alleged pursuit.  

Witnesses have told the Newcastle Herald, they've heard over the speaker, officers are searching for a man in his mid-20s. 

He is described as being clean-shaven, with olive skin, and is wearing a long black shirt and blue shorts.

He was last seen in Jesmond at about 12:00pm on Wednesday the 15th of August 2023. 

Anyone who has seen the man or has any information which may help police with their search is being asked to call 000. 

UPDATE! Empty Boat Found in Search for Man Missing Off Bolton Point

UPDATE:

An empty boat has been found in the search for missing Bolton Point man Ashley McKellar.

Police say a Westpac Rescue Helicopter found the boat about 20 nautical miles offshore about 11:30am on Thursday the 15th of June.

The multi-agency search for the 43-year-old is ongoing. 

EARLIER:

A multi-agency search is continuing for missing Bolton Point man , Ashley McKellar.

The 43-year-old was last seen at his his home at about 8.30am on Wednesday June 14.

When he could not be contacted or located, Police were notified and inquiries commenced into his whereabouts.

Police and his family hold concerns for his welfare as his disappearance is out of character.

Ashley is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 185cm tall with a medium build and short brown hair, and he wears dark-rimmed glasses.

It's believed Ashley may have launched his Telewater 4.8m Aluminium Runabout from from lake access at Bolton Point at about 10.30am on Wednesday.

The vessel has the registration plates VK844N.

A wide-scale air and sea search is continuing off the Hunter Coast by PolAir, Water Police, Marine Rescue, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority and the Westpac Rescue helicopter.

EARLIER:

A search is under way in waters off Bolton Point for a man reported missing overnight.

Police say 43-year-old Ashley McKellar set off in his runabout on Wednesday and has failed to return.

His wife raised the alarm when he failed to return home overnight.

Officers from Marine Area Command as well as volunteers from Marine Rescue are taking part in the search.

A Marine Safety Authority aircraft from Melbourne has joined the search along with the Westpac Rescue and Toll helicopters.

Stolen Car From Sydney Still On The Run In The Hunter

The Polair helicopter has been called in to help search for an allegedly stolen car involved in a series of pursuits from the Central Coast to Lake Macquarie.

An Audi was stolen from Sydney on Wednesday night with police from Brisbane Water, Tuggerah Lakes, Lake Macquarie and the Highway Patrol all involved in attempting to stop the car.

However, the pursuits were called off on each occasion for safety reasons.

Police lost sight of the car at Catherine Hill Bay.

The vehicle is believed to be still in the Lake Macquarie or Newcastle areas and the search is continuing.

Police Dog Rounds Up Two Suspects After Pursuit At Black Hill

A lengthy pursuit has ended with the arrest of two people at Black Hill on the outskirts of Newcastle.

Officers spotted an allegedly stolen car in New Lambton at about 8.00am on Thursday and began following the vehicle but terminated the chase due to the risk to public safety.

PolAir then found the car travelling near Black Hill, with the driver and passenger dumping the car and running off in different directions after crashing the vehicle.

Police Dog Yule quickly tracked down the passenger for arresting officers then took off after the driver and rounded him up as well.

The 34-year-old driver was wanted on an outstanding warrant - he and the passenger were taken to Waratah Police Station for charging.

It's alleged several weapons and drugs were found in the vehicle.

Manhunt Continues After Wild Pursuit Through Lake Macquarie And Newcastle

Two people remain on the run after leading police on a wild pursuit through Lake Macquarie and Newcastle suburbs.

Police say around 3.30pm on Tuesday officers tried to stop a Toyota Lexus at Charlestown and then chased the vehicle to Jesmond with dozens of police vehicles and the Polair helicopter involved in the pursuit.

The car was abandoned at the Jesmond Shopping Centre, with two people in the car running off.

Despite an intensive search, the pair could not be found, with police concluding the operation at about 8.00pm and the Lexus seized for forensic examination.

UPDATE! Couple Arrested After Police Pursuit At Cardiff

A high speed pursuit has led to the arrest of two people at Cardiff.

At about 10.45pm on Monday, officers noticed a Ford Ranger in the area which had earlier been reported stolen and began following the vehicle when it failed to stop.

It's alleged the utility reached speeds of up to 110 km/hr in a 60 kn/h zone before it turned down a dead end in Park Street.

The 3 occupants fled - 1 a 30-year-old woman was arrested at the scene while a 41-year-old man was located by the police dog hiding under a nearby house, while another man remains on the run.

The man and woman have been charged with a range of offenses including take and drive conveyance without permission, aggravated break and enter, Police pursuit, and possess house breaking implements. The male has also been charged with driving while disqualified. They're expected to face court today (Tuesday 31 August, 2021)

Police allege the trio are wanted over a series of break and enters in the area.

EARLIER:

A man and woman are assisting police with their inquiries after a pursuit through Lake Macquarie.

The pair were travelling in a Ford Ranger which had earlier been reported stolen.

The Polair helicopter tracked the vehicle and the chase came to an end near Government Road at Cardiff at about 11.00pm on Monday where the man and woman fled.

They were arrested a short time later and taken into custody.

BREAKING! High Speed Pursuit Through Lake Macquarie Ends With Arrests On Central Coast

Two people been arrested following a lengthy high speed pursuit through Lake Macquarie to the Central Coast.

Police spotted a blue Holden utility at 10.00pm on Tuesday at Nords Wharf which had been reported stolen from the F3 Motor Auctions yard at Beresfield on June 10 - they began following the car when it failed to stop.

Police say the pursuit was terminated and recommenced on several occasions due to the manner of driving and the danger to other motorists.

The Polair helicopter was in the area and kept tracking the vehicle covertly.

The car was clocked travelling at 130 km/h in a 90 zone.

The chase continued for 2 hours before the car stopped at Glenning Valley near Berkeley Vale at midnight where a 41-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were arrested.

The man's been charged with 7 offences including police pursuit, steal motor vehicle, reckless driving, disqualified driving and goods in custody.

He's been refused bail to face Wyong Local Court today (Wednesday 1 July 2020).

The woman's been charged with steal motor vehicle and being carried in a conveyance without consent.

Police say the arrests would not have been made possible without the assistance of  the Polair helicopter.

Two Charged After Stolen Car Pursuit Around Newcastle

A man and woman are set to face court after leading Newcastle Police on a land and sky pursuit over the weekend.

Following reports an Audi had been stolen from Charlestown around 10:30 on Saturday morning, the PolAir helicopter spotted the vehicle in New Lambton, monitoring it travelling through Lambton, Rankin Park and Wallsend before it was abandoned in Tyrell Street.

PolAir crews then spotted the Audi's three occupants steal a Suzuki Swift, driving it through Minmi, Lenaghan and eventually exiting off the motorway onto Wallsend Link Road.

The Swift was driven into bushland as the occupants fled.

Police on land, with help from the Dog Unit, tracked down a 27-year-old man and 18-year-old woman, arresting them and taking them to Newcastle Police Station.

The man was charged with multiple offences and the woman with being carried in conveyance.

They'll face court later this month, while police are still searching for the third man involved.
