14-Year-Old Missing from Newcastle

Newcastle City Police are seeking public assistance to locate 14-year-old Jett Ford-Lonergan.

Jett went missing from his home in Fletcher at 5.00pm Sunday 12 March 2023.

It's possible he was seen this morning on a public bus near Charlestown Square.

Jett was last seen wearing a black Adidas hat with a yellow image on the front, a black PUMA jumper, black jeans, and black Nike joggers.

Police have concerns for his welfare due to his age and medical condition.

BREAKING! Drug Lab Uncovered At Shortland

Newcastle Police have uncovered a clandestine drug lab at Shortland.

Officers executed a search warrant at a home on Thursday afternoon.

A 40-year-old man was arrested at the home and is due to face Newcastle Local Court on Friday morning charged with manufacturing a prohibited drug.

It's believed police uncovered a large amount of chemicals to be used in the making of the drug ice along with a working laboratory.

Alleged Culprits Still On The Run After Assaults at Cooks Hill and Muswellbrook

The search continues for the alleged culprits involved in two assaults in Newcastle and Muswellbrook over the weekend.

Police say a 31-year-old man was slapped and knocked unconscious during an altercation at a licensed premise on Darby Street, Cooks Hill on Saturday night.

Police want to speak to two men of Caucasian appearance in their mid 20's to mid 30's with a muscular build, average height and neck tattoos.

One was wearing a white t-shirt, the other a green short-sleeved shirt.

Meanwhile, police are trying to piece together the circumstances leading up to the assault of a 28-year-old man in the front yard of a home on Tindale Street at Muswellbrook.

The incident happened around 7.30 on Saturday night.

The victim suffered a fractured skull and lacerations to his face and arms and was airlifted to the John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.

Pair Arrested Over Mail Thefts From Newcastle Unit Complexes

Newcastle Police have arrested two people over a series of mail thefts from city unit complexes last month.

It's alleged a man and woman used credit cards stolen during the thefts to make fraudulent transactions.

Police went to a unit in Watkins Street yesterday and arrested a 27-year-old woman - they say a number of items related to the mail thefts and stolen property were also found.

Officers then arrested a 24-year-old man at a home in Callen Street Stockton.

They've both been refused bail to face Newcastle Local Court next month.

Man Arrested Following Pursuit In Newcastle East

A man is due to face court next month over an early-morning pursuit in Newcastle.

Just before 1.30am on Wednesday, officers spotted a Toyota Camry being driven erratically and tried to pull it over when it allegedly ran a red light at Cooks Hill.

The car continued for another 500 metres down Dawson Street before colliding with a parked Hyundai van and crashing into a fence on Parkway Avenue.

The 24-year-old driver fled, running into a storm water pipe for about 300 metres before he was arrested.

He's been charged with drive in a manner dangerous and police pursuit and is due nto appear ion Newcastle Local Court on February 20.

Three Men Sought Over Armed Robbery At Gregson Park, Hamilton

Police are searching for three men over an armed street robbery at Hamilton.

An 18-year-old man was walking through Gregson Park off Tudor Street just after midnight on Sunday when he was approached by 3 men.

One of them pulled out a knife and demanded the young man's wallet, which he handed over before the trio left the area.

All three are described as being of Aboriginal appearance and in their late 20's.

The main offender is described as having a chubby build and was wearing a black hooded jumper and black Nike joggers.

The other two are about 195 centimetres tall with a solid and chubby build and wearing white and black hooded jumpers and black track pants.

"Coma In A Bottle" Found During Vehicle Stop At Mayfield

Police have seized the drug known as "coma in a bottle" during a random vehicle stop at Mayfield overnight

Officers from the Target Action Group pulled over a blue Ford  hatchback on Maud Street at about 10.10pm on Wednesday.

They searched the two male occupants and the car, allegedly finding a bottle of a liquid which their drug testing equipment identified as GBL.

The drug is known to bring on psychosis and hallucinations.

A 28-year-old man was arrested and taken to Waratah Police Station where he's been charged with supplying a prohibited drug.

He's been granted conditional bail to face Newcastle Local Court in August 29.

Man Arrested Over Stolen Property And Arrest Warrants At Hamilton South

Police investigating reports of stolen property across Newcastle have arrested a man overnight at Hamilton South.

Officers noticed the 36-year-old pushing a specialised mountain bike along Fowler Street just before 6.00pm on Monday which they suspected had been stolen.

The man was also allegedly in possession of a stolen iPhone and two fuel cards which had been reported stolen from a car in Burwood Street Merewether on Sunday.

Checks revealed the man was also wanted on two arrest warrants for failing to appear in court.

He's been been refused bail to face Newcastle Local Court today.

Man To Face Court Over Alleged Thefts From Newcastle Apartment Block

A Noraville man is due to face court today accused of breaking into a unit block in Newcastle and stealing property.

It's alleged the 34-year-old forced open a letter box at the Worth Place apartments in the early hours of Monday morning and stole keys and an access fob before gaining access to the basement and breaking into several storage cages and making off with two mountain bikes, jewellery and tools.

He was arrested yesterday while walking in Morgan Street Islington, with a search of his backpack allegedly uncovering keys, an access fob and housebreaking implements.

Police say they searched a nearby home and found two mountain bikes, one of which was stolen from Worth Place

The man, who is on parole, was taken to Waratah Police Station and charged with four offences including break enter and steal, possess housebreaking implements, goods in custody and possess graffiti implement.

He was refused bail to face Newcastle Local Court today (Wednesday 11 July, 2019).

Police are investigating a number of break and enters in the area and are reminding residents to be vigilant and not to leave spare keys in letterboxes.

Seafarers Charity At Wickham Held Up At Gunpoint

Police have released a description of a man wanted over an armed robbery on a charity organisation at Wickham.

The man entered the Mission To Seafarers charity shop on Hannell Street at about 8.30pm on Saturday armed with a pistol and threatened two men, demanding they hand over money.

It's alleged the man pulled out a knife and made further threats towards the men before walking behind the counter and taking money from the cash register.

He then ran off down Greenway Street.

He's described as being about 180 centimetres tall with a medium build and was wearing dark clothing and had his face covered.

The men weren't injured during the incident.

Fatal Stabbing at Hamilton

Police have confirmed one man is dead and another is in surgery following a stabbing in Newcastle overnight.

Around 3:30 this morning police responded to reports of two men fighting on Hamilton's Donald Street and arrived to find the men had already left the scene in a car possibly driven by a third man.

Shortly after, officers attended a unit on Coady Street in Hamilton South where they located the body of a 51-year-old man.

A 23-year-old man with serious head injuries was treated at the scene by paramedics and has been taken to the John Hunter Hospital for surgery.

Newcastle City Police officers are continuing to investigate the scene.

Man Robbed At Knifepoint At Jesmond

A man has been the victim of a terrifying street robbery at Jesmond.

The 24-year-old was walking along Mordue Parade at about 10.30pm on Wednesday when he was approached by a man who pulled a knife on him.

The man ordered the victim to hand over his mobile phone, cash and other personal property before running off.

The offender's described as being in his early 20's, about 185 centimetres tall and was wearing a dark baseball cap and a dark jumper.

The victim was not injured during the incident.

Bike Thefts On The Rise Around Merewether

Newcastle Police are urging residents living in Merewether and surrounding suburbs to ensure their homes and garages are locked after a spike in property theft.

Thieves have been targeting bicycles, even taking the front wheel of bikes chained to poles in public places and leaving the frame behind.

A 43-year-old man has been arrested and refused bail over two alleged break and enters and a stealing at Merewether, while a 39-year-old man was stopped by police after they found him with 3 bikes suspected of being stolen.

Police say despite the arrests, residents need to remain vigilant.

Newcastle Police Make Major Drug Arrest

Newcastle Police have made a major breakthrough in the fight against the supply of illegal drugs,

They arrested a 35-year-old man at Broadmeadow on Tuesday following a 3 month investigation and charged him with 29 counts of drug supply.

It's alleged the man was in possession of almost 15 grams of ICE.

Officers later searched his Georgetown home where they allegedly found 3 other people in possession of ICE along with bikes, electronic devices and tools all suspected of being stolen.

Girls Approached By "School Teacher" In Newcastle

Police are searching for a man in his 50's with an English accent who approached two school girls in Newcastle.

The two 13-year-olds were waiting for a bus in Hunter Street at about 3.30pm on Wednesday when the man walked up to them.

Police say the man identified himself as a school teacher before touching one of the girls on the shoulder.

The girls ran to a nearby business, who then contacted police.

The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his 50s, about 170cm to 175cm tall, with grey hair, moustache, and beard. He was last seen wearing a green and white striped shirt, tan shorts, white long socks, a straw hat, and black glasses and he spoke with an English accent.
