Police have seized the drug known as "coma in a bottle" during a random vehicle stop at Mayfield overnight
Officers from the Target Action Group pulled over a blue Ford hatchback on Maud Street at about 10.10pm on Wednesday.
They searched the two male occupants and the car, allegedly finding a bottle of a liquid which their drug testing equipment identified as GBL.
The drug is known to bring on psychosis and hallucinations.
A 28-year-old man was arrested and taken to Waratah Police Station where he's been charged with supplying a prohibited drug.
He's been granted conditional bail to face Newcastle Local Court in August 29.
