Boys Arrested Over Attempted Break-In At Cardiff

Police have arrested two teenage boys over an attempted break and enter at a Cardiff service station.

Police say the 16-year-olds smashed a window at the Enhance Petrol outlet on Main Road just before 12.30am on Monday, setting off the intruder alarm.

The pair fled and a witness pointed officers in the right direction when they arrived a short time later.

The boys were found hiding in bushes about 2 kilometres away and arrested.

They were taken to Toronto Police Station and will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.

Woman Charged With Breaching COVID-19 Health Restrictions After Crash At Glendale

A Cameron Park woman is due to face court in June accused of refusing to submit to a breath test and breaching the stay at home health restrictions.

Police were called to Main Road at Glendale at about 9.50pm on Wednesday after a silver Commodore sedan collided with a traffic light.

Police say the 33-year-old female driver left the scene and was arrested near her home a short time later.

It's alleged she refused to submit to a random breath test and was taken to Toronto Police Station where she again refused to submit to a breath analysis.

Her licence has been suspended and she's been granted conditional bail to face Toronto Local Court on June 30.

Police Dog Puts The Bite On Alleged Thief At Fennell Bay

A police dog has tracked down a teenager accused of attempting to steal tools and equipment from a Lake Macquarie construction site.

Police say two people were spotted at the building site on Main Road at Fennell Bay at about 12.30am on Tuesday.

Officers arrived a short time later and the pair fled.

A police dog apprehended a 17-year-old male who police say refused a direction to stop.

He's being treated for bite wounds and is expected to be charged over the alleged break-in.

The second person managed to evade capture.

Hunter House Fires Prompt Warning From Firefighters

The occupants of a house at Muswellbrook have escaped unharmed after a fire broke out last night.

Firefighters from Muswellbrook and Aberdeen arrived at the Chenin Close home to find a fire in the kitchen.

They took 90 minutes to extinguish the blaze and ventilate the house.

Newcastle Fire Command says a pot of oil left unattended on the stove caused the fire which left the kitchen badly damaged.

Meanwhile crews were also called to a unit complex on Main Road at Edgeworth at about 7.30 where food cooking on a barbeque on a balcony caught alight.

The fire was quickly extinguished.

It's prompted a warning from firefighters not to leave cooking food unattended.

Police Investigate Bad Crash At Heddon Greta

Investigations are continuing into a serious crash at Heddon Greta last night which has left two people in hospital.

Police say an 18-year-old female P-plate driver was travelling east along Main Road just after 6.00pm in a White Nissan Navara Twin Cab ute when she crashed into the back of a stationary White Toyota Corolla.

A 62-year-old man driving the Corolla and a 15-year-old female front seat passenger were trapped for about an hour before being freed by the Cessnock Volunteer Rescue Association and taken to hospital with cuts and suspected spinal injuries.

Teen approached by stranger at Cardiff

A child has been approached at Cardiff, and police have released CCTV footage of the vehicle involved.

Around 3:30 yesterday afternoon, a 13-year-old girl was waiting for a bus home from school when she was approached by a man on Main Road.

The man, believed to be around 30 years old, spoke to the girl before a passer-by told him to leave; then a car, driven by a woman, pulled up to take him away and they drove off in the direction of Cardiff Train Station.

The car is described as a Silver Mitsubishi Lancer with chipped paint, while anyone with information is urged to contact crime stoppers.
