Numerous calls from the community has resulted in the arrest of a man and woman accused of offensive behaviour and malicious damage at Newcastle West.
Police were called to Parry Street at about 5.30pm on Sunday to reports two people were swearing, smashing bottles and kicking cars parked on the street.
It's alleged the pair aged 27 assaulted police and resisted arrest before they were taken to Newcastle Police station where it's further alleged they spat at officers and smeared blood in the dock following their arrest.
Both individuals are well known to police and have been refused bail to face Newcastle Local Court today (Monday 27 March, 2023).
