Birds of a feather flock together for Lake Macquarie bird count

BY ALEXANDRA REES

Bird lovers across the Hunter are being urged to flock to backyards across Lake Macquarie next week, to participate in the Annual Aussie Bird Count.

Starting on Monday, participants of the count will record both the number and type of birds spotted in any 20 minute period up until Sunday 23rd of October.

Of the 55,000 birds tallied in last year's count, the Rainbow Lorikeet, Noisy Miner, Australian Magpie and Sulphur Crested Cockatoo, and Eastern Rosella were among the most commonly spotted.

This year's count is hoping to do even better.
