Police are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage to a crash at Rutherford which has left a cyclist in hospital with serious head injuries.
The 36-year-old man was riding east along Arthur Street at about 2.30pm on Thursday when he collided with a Ford Falcon Utility travelling south on Weblands Street.
He was treated by paramedics before being flown to the John Hunter Hospital by the Hunter's Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
A 39-year-old man who was driving the ute was taken to Maitland Hospital for mandatory testing.
