A single vehicle crash at Stroud has claimed the life of a woman in her 30's.
Emergency services were called to The Buckets Way following reports a Ford Ranger left the road.
An 11-year-old girl was also in the vehicle but managed to free herself, and was treated by paramedics for minor injuries and transferred to the John Hunter Hospital.
The woman was trapped in the front cabin of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers from Port Stephens-Hunter Police District have established a crime scene as they investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The Bucketts Way is closed in both directions, with diversions in place for both North and Southbound traffic. Delays are expected to remain in place for some time.
