Newcastle alcohol policy campaigner, Tony Brown is leading a push to have the city's lockout laws expanded to other regional areas of the state.
He says measures such as the government's earlier last drinks policy have been effective in reducing alcohol-fueled violence in Newcastle and Sydney's prominent night life precincts.
Tony Brown says these measures need to be rolled out statewide to deal with hotspots in areas where there are concentrations of late-trading pubs, clubs and bottle shops.
He also believes extending the laws, particularly to regional areas of NSW, will reduce the number of fatal road crashes linked to alcohol.
