A Newcastle University student has been the victim of a robbery at knifepoint overnight.
The 18-year-old man was walking from campus towards Warabrook Railway Station just before 8.30pm on Thursday when he was approached by a man and woman who engaged him in conversation.
The male offender then pulled out a small knife and demanded the student's wallet and mobile phone.
The pair took the student to an ATM where he withdrew some cash and handed it to the offenders, who were last seen walking out of the campus down University Drive.
The student wasn't injured.
Police have issued a description of the two offenders.
The male is described as being in his late 30's or early 40's with a solid build, short hair and a beard.
The woman is in her late 20's to early 30's with dark hair and was wearing a dark coloured hooded jumper.
Anyone who may have seen the pair is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
